If the freezer doors are the thing that are to be traded for the sign, make sure that the doors are really there. Otherwise, the only thing that you should be giving this guy is a nice steel toed boot up his ass! If he can't produce the doors, he should not even consider asking for the sign back.
Remember, he destroyed the place and caused as much damage as he could just for spite. Where does he get the brass balls to get in contact with you so he can get his sign that he abandoned there?

That was a "Negotiated" agreement with the judge and my Father-in-law.
Even though he paid for the signs (to replace the old worn out signs), the purchase of the new signs should be considered as part of the maintenance of the property as he agreed to.
He also made us take down the wall signs on the north and south sides of the store.
But...that's OK! I designed a new sign, had two made and they are up and look great!
Here is the old sign

And the new

I think the new pole sign faces will be equally "Nice"

Let me get this straight: JD can be reached before 5pm at 775-622-7748. Susan can be reached after 5 pm at 775-622-3812 . My phone search says Donald Brown lives at 3529 Heron's Circle, Reno, NV. 89502, where Susan can be reached.
Isn't grand theft, possesion of stolen property above $100.00, and conspiracy all felonies?
Has anyone notified Washoe County Sheriff's Department? I know property crimes are low on the radar for patrol Deputies rolling to Gerlach and Empire, but shouldn't some gold star detective in Reno be looking at this?

Oldguy...I don't recognize any of those names or initials! And The former tennant, while (in my eyes) is guilty of many "wrongdoings" is in possession of items he made claim to (wrongly so) and has been ordered by the court system of this glorious county/state...to return same! In return, he wants the signs and a few other things he didn't have time to grab when he was vacating. And the Washoe Co. Sheriff's deputy out here gave this guy 5 days to vacate when the JUDGE signed a 48 hour notice to vacate. So...we won't be discussing the S.O. any further! I'm not real impressed with their "UNBIASED" enforcement of a COURT ORDER.
Thecatman...Great!!! Looking forward to meeting any and all~Let me know when you're coming and I will ice down a beer or six!!!

Ok. I'm going to get heat for this, but I contacted Detective Sergeant G. Herrera of Washoe County Property Crimes Division. Patrol Division has property crimes low on their radar, they are the ones usually to serve paper though.
Perhaps a gold star detective can get the lowdown. The next step is probably the Undersherriff, (The Sheriff is usually a politician on his way to the AG office.) Frontier justice still goes to the man with the gold star.
I'm really getting torqued about this, don't know exactly why. I do know that if you let people step on you, they won't quit, and then their buddies will jump on.

I can help you reduce some costs associated with the manufacturing end of the sign. If you use a shop with a cnc router I can supply the toolpath for free. Often manufacturing facilities charge alot more for programming time than the machine run time, often padding the engineering time spent. If you have a 2D rendition of the "font" and lettering in scale as you'd like it to appear I can import it into MasterCAM and make the program. All I would need to know is the type of control on the machine wheres its to be made and the final size of the letters and signage in inches or millimeters. Basically you have something drawn that you want, I click a few times on the computer and out spits the geometry and commands used by the machine tool saving you at least a couple hundred.mykidsdaddy wrote:The signs are down!!!
Thanks for all your ideas. I am going to work on a new
"Welcome to Nowhere"
sign face design. I am thinking it should be along the same design lines as the new wall signs...
Another method would be for you to buy the sheet plastic and layout the letters by hand etc and cut it yourself. Doing this you leave a lil extra on the sides so you can shape it by hand on the edges to have a nice smooth look when finished. This would of course be the cheapest way to go.

Thanks Toolmaker! I think sign guys have it a whole lot easier these days than most will let on...ever hear of a large format printer??? All they have to do now days is use a program like Correll or something similar and do the artwork on a computer, Pick a font and finished size...then click PRINT!

You mean you can't run granite thru a printer??? Well I'lll be dammmmmed!
I am pretty sure granite won't be used on the pole sign! The next "sign" i have made with granite will read "Here lies Mykidsdaddy..."
LOL LOL LOL
I think the sign will be a vinyl transfer to a translucent milk white. The vinyl is cut on a "Printer" then...like double-sided tape, the back side of the letters are peeled then a mixture of water and a little bit of detergent is sprayed on the plex. The new sign art is then lined up, carefully applied to the plex, squeegied to remove air bubbles and then the finished side is peeled.

Hmmm, I'm thinking a giant tombstone (with obligatory bat perched upon it) welcoming us to nowhere would be pretty creepily coolygmir wrote:well.........I've made a few signs from granite A(I'm a stonecutter).......hand drawn, laid out, carved and installed.......no machine for that..........mykidsdaddy wrote:Thanks Toolmaker! YUCK.. Vinyl.. well whatever works for you. Its actually a plotter that cuts the vinyl but yes essentially its a print job from a graphic app on a PC or Mac. I had figured you wanted something classier and more 3 dimensional in appearance.mykidsdaddy wrote:You mean you can't run granite thru a printer??? Well I'lll be dammmmmed!

OK OK... you got me there...vinyl isn't at the top of the list but I am dead serious when I tell you we have NO budget for signage!!! It is as Shambala said...a "Catch22" you need to spend money to make money but if you already SPENT your money then you CAN NOT get ahead. We are stocking the store and re-stocking the store every other day or so. Double edge sword here too...not enough cash to buy large quantities and no large walk-ins to put large qtys in anyway.Toolmaker wrote:YUCK.. Vinyl.. well whatever works for you. I will find out how much it will cost to make two new faces and we'll go from there.
