I'll be needing at least one for burningman. How do you come upon a surplus of them?

the batteries are from UPS systems that have been upgraded to new ones. about 20% of the ones we take out, the batteries are only 1 or 2 years old.

freakin darn concord is so not near me.

how much does a deep cell battery weigh?

it's almost worth the roadtrip.

or at least it's a great excuse for a roadtrip.

they weight about 70 lbs. each and I am thinking there is about 20 that I will be picking up next week, after that there is about 10 to 20 a month worth keeping.

Hmm. Too bad you are in California, I probably could come up with some use for them.

Batteries for Amphibia

Post by MrGod » Sun Jan 21, 2007 5:34 pm

We could use a couple of batteries for our 2007 camp Amphibia. I live in Arizona but I have contacted a camp member who lives in S.F. to see if she is interested in getting them for us - if you still have some.

What is the amp-hour rating for the batteries? I could use two (to get 24v), but at 70lbs each they are a lot heavier than two I currently use.

But if I could replace my two current batteries and run twice as many lights it might be a good tradeoff. (35-amp-hours will run my lights for 12 hours per day for 7 days, just enough for BM without recharging.)

Batteries

Post by missviolet » Mon Jan 22, 2007 7:44 pm

Camp Amphibia would love some spare batteries if they are still available! Most of the members are in AZ, but since I live in San Francisco, I would be happy to come take a couple off you hands. Many thanks!

first load has come and gone.I will get another 10 to 20 in about two weeks, PM me if you are interested and I will give you info and address.

I have posted this offer for the last few years but this year has had so many takers I have had to limit everyone to only 4.

A huge shout out and thanks to burnerboy33. Went by his place Sunday and was gifted not one, but four, deep discharge truck batteries. Looks like one of these could probably run the lighting needs of a camp for the entire burn. Gonna hook one up to an AC converter for all the basic comforts. Playa's gonna be a little greener this year.

The AZ burners are very excited by the greener power supply! Please come by Camp Amphibia to see how GREEN we are! Also, if any of you go back to visit BurnerBoy, a little birdie told me he likes tequila... :)

batteries

Post by ohno! » Sun Mar 04, 2007 3:29 pm

I am building a remote control, electric cooler and wheels. If you still have batteries, I could sure use anywhere from two to four, depending on what you have. I live in Chico, so i could pick them up. Let me know thanks

Four free 75 amp-hour batteries

Post by falk » Sat Jul 11, 2009 3:06 pm

Two years ago, burnerboy33 gave me four of these large gel cell batteries for an art car I was building. I still haven't finished it, and it will probably not run on electricity anyway, so I think I should pass them on to someone else instead.

Anybody willing to come to Mountain View to pick them up, please contact me off-line.

dibs!

Post by j_cavera » Mon Jul 13, 2009 10:25 am

I'm gonna call dibs on this one! My playa time clock is in need of
battery power. I live in Phoenix and so (assuming you don't) mail
is impractical. BUT, I'll be on playa on the 29th, and so (if willing)
you can just bring with and I can make use of.

I'll just need to know physical measurements and voltage (12v I
believe). LMK if this works for you.

have been more specific.

Hi all; sorry for those who got confused by my leaching onto the original topic.

Batteries are probably spoken for; if it falls through, I'll get back to the next people on the list.
