need art car help

Post by THIZZkid » Tue Oct 14, 2008 10:53 am

i live in Fernley, NV and looking for any help/ resources you may have. 2009 will be my 3rd burn in a row and am accumulating quite an array of stuff. my friends dad built the american dream catcher car for 2008 and gave it to me as a gift for towing it out to the playa. i am thinking of making it into a blue whale that might transform into something else. i havnt decided yet. but anyway i an having trouble on what material to use that will strech and let light through and where u get it for wholesale.

Many art cars are made with a framework of steel rod (1/4" or so) with lycra stretched over it. It's transparent enough that you can light it from behind for great effect. I've found good prices on Ebay for bulk lycra - just figure out the colors and amounts you need and keep an eye out. If you see someone listing multiple amounts of the stuff you need, ask them if they have X amount.

You won't be able to see out this to drive - you'll need something really transparent or with holes in it for that.

You can check out several art cars at www.artcaragency.com. This will give you a good idea of many different techniques for making an art car.
