Trace... do you know anyone with these skills? Finding a what you need one the eplaya isn't all that easy, much less getting them to commit to a sunrise ceremony. I'm not being negative, just very realistic about what I've sen in the past.

A photographer shouldn't be too hard, there's plenty of them... keep asking, and once you hit the playa, ask some more. You're more likely to get results in the dust than here online.

Henna? do some research, buy a kit and see if any of your friends has a talent for it. There are camps and individuals who do this, but I don't know if any of them are posting or reading here.

A mutant vehicle? I've been to or know of enough playa weddings that I know if it isn't your vehicle or you aren't good friends with the owner/driver and see a lot of them at the event ... they'll be late or they will forget. The idea is nice, but by Friday it is like herding cats.

Those are details though, hope it goes well for you!

Our art car -- Peach's Verdant Box -- is always near the Temple at sunrise. The Box is easy to find. It is about the size of a chariot and has three 20 ft flowers as well as dragonflies. If you see us, snag us and we would love to take you to your honeymoon suite.

YEAH!! the Peach's Verdant Box sounds awesome!!
I really only need my boyfriend to show at sunrise with me so we can say our vows to each other, I've only seen a hand full of sunrises ever because I'm SO not a morning person so I get it, but on the playa the calm at that time is so refreshing I love it.
All these things I want are just icing on the cake! I choose to get married at BM because it's all so up in the air and can't be controlled, but hey keep the advice suggestions and comments coming a lot of it is very helpful!!

My pleasure! I found a site with some traditional patterns...check these out, and true, the stain does darken over several days. Historically, brides had their hands and feet henna'd before their wedding, and the longer they wore it, the more 'pampered' they were thought to be because they didn't have to hands-on prepare for their own wedding! Oh, lucky girl! Plan to wear it for at least a few hours...the longer it sits the better the color! Enjoy these...

Henna Prep

Post by Gravity Girl » Wed Jun 03, 2009 10:14 am

for my friend's traditional sikh wedding we all had henna done on our hands and arms (and she had her feet done, too) 2 days before the wedding. it took a few hours to dry (so plan on sitting around and drinking from a straw and not touching anything if you get your fingers and palms done) and then we dabbed off the crusty bits with lemon juice and tissues. that night i put tiger balm on my hands and slept with socks over them. lemon juice and tiger balm are both supposed to make the henna darker and last longer. there are other things that probably have a similar effect, so you could always google it (if you don't want to spend your wedding day smelling like tiger balm). on the playa you probably won't be getting your hands wet too much, and normal hand washing is ok, but at home plan on rubber gloves for a while for dishes and cleaning up post-burn so that your henna lasts longer. i LOVED my henna and i felt so beautiful with it done. you may want to plan on painting your nails a bright colour too because it really adds to the look.
congratulations, i'm sure whatever works out or doesn't work out or happens that you didn't plan, your wedding will be wonderful.

I had my hands henna'd on the backs and did not cover them when I went to sleep. I forgot I sleep with my hands tucked under my cheeks. I had henna designs on my face!

For the photographer, if you don't have anything lined up before hand, post a notice at Media Mecca when you get in. People think of us as working with reporters, but we actually have even more art photographers, since anyone shooting for public distribution registers with us.

PM me your location and I'll keep an eye open for registering photogs from your neck of the woods.

And if you still need a minister/officiant, PM me. I'm being certified by Pershing County to conduct weddings on playa.
