Post by followthroughforever » Fri Dec 04, 2009 11:49 pm

Hey me and my friend are trying to find a way out to Nev. We are first timers and are trying to find someone to hook up with to ride down with. NJ Area, if anyone is from the area and heading out there, Please let me know, help pay for expenses and such. I didn't know where to post this so I shot it in here. Sorry if it shouldn't be here. Thanks!

There is a ride board but it's not up and running yet.

The typical four door car can fit 2-3 burners and gear, depending on how much comfort the campers want to have while on playa, what their gifting strategy is, how many costumes, how many showers they intend to have, ect. This means that your two selves are nearing the end of possible space in a ride. think about if you'll split up and what kind of packing you might do. Are you cooking? Are you happy eating a can of cold beans every night? Do you need a warm coat? Do you need platform shoes? Do you want a shade structure. If your ride flakes and isn't there to bring you back home, can you afford a couple extra days to deal with the scramble? Do you have money to rent in an emergency?

I was a greeter at the airport last year and there were tons of people from Philly (I know, not Jersey, but close enough!). I'd imagine they have a pretty large local community. IMHO, best bet would be to book a flight and catch a ride from Reno.

There is a small NJ community, many of whom are on the NYC list. Sign up there

I'm one of those NJ persons. I have a 4 door sedan. I have to tinker with it before I even think about bringing it to the desert. My airflow sensor is a bit coky when it's hot outside, new belts for the long distances, and a new winshield washer pump. As of this moment I'm most likely going to be a part of a theme camp. But I'm open to bring ppl with. U cats have ur own tents and stuff? Can you drive outta state legally? meaning a valid NJ drivers lisence. Your friendly right? free of disease/drama/emotional stress/roadrage/speeding like ur ass is on fire. car pooling would save a shit load on gas and time getting there. I figure gasin up about 9 times in both directions at MOST 50$ each time.

now that I think of it. I may only have room in my car for 1 other person...lol. I won't know until ppl start talking to me and plans get jumpstarted into motion.
