Bassoon, HELP!

Ok...so, this doesn't have to do with burning man except that if I can't get some help...I will not be making it to the burn.

I was a music major in college. I studied performance and education. Part of education is learning to passably play all the major classical instruments. In Spring of 2008 I took my last methods class, double reeds. I learned the oboe and bassoon. I returned my bassoon mid-semester because it was broken. According to their hand written records I am the last person to have had this instrument and I never returned it (I did!). Now they want me to pay 1800 bucks for a plastic, broken bassoon. OR I can give them a bassoon is relative working order.

If ANYONE out there has a bassoon that is festering in their attics or in a closet and would like to sell it to me...I could really really use the help.

I didn't know who else to turn to!

(e-bay doesn't really have much in the way of passable instruments in my price range)

Dispute it for three weeks, and deal with it afterwards.
