Seeking- Nautical Decorations for the Pier

Post by googbox » Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:25 pm

Hello!

I'm part of the crew who is working on The Pier, a large-scale art installation for Burning Man 2011. It's a 300-foot pier and we want it to be a place for burners to come hang out, perform, play, enjoy and interact with each other and the art.

To that end, I'm working on obtaining some items to help with the ambience of the art project. We are looking for donations of the following items.

Fishing Poles
Fishing Nets
Ship Rope (in any length)
Rope
Anchors
Crab & lobster traps
Barrels
Treasure chest

We are in Reno, but will be scouring Northern Nevada, Sacramento, and the Bay area for these items (especially the larger items) but if you have some of these and can mail them to Reno, that'd be great too.

If you have any of these items lying around, please send me a PM and we can work out a way to get them.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We are up here on the NW coast and would bring (<100lbs piece of Drift Wood) to the playa. as long as we can burn it, and not have to haul it out. This piece would be legally removed from one of our beach, but the sustainability is kinda iffy. carbon offset and what not.

not sure if you've ever seen goodwill's online auction site, but it's really awesome for stuff like this:

it's like a goodwill store in that you sometimes find a whole bunch of stuff and you sometimes find nothing...but it's worth checking out now and then. :)
