Tattoo artist advice needed

Post by Boomr » Thu Jun 16, 2011 11:34 am

My playa partner and I are toying with getting tattoos (AFTER we leave BRC.) We are middle-aged rebel children, ready to commemorate our Rite of Passage with a small bit of body art, our first.

Any recommendations on a good tattoo artist in the SLC area? Or perhaps Cheyenne or Sioux Falls. We'll be driving east from BRC to Minneapolis. We won't have much time to spend scoping out various places, so any advice is appreciated.

Needles? Needles...piercing....flesh??

Ewwww.

Yes, my dream is to go to Reno, get a hotel, have a shower, swim in the pool, eat pizza and get the odd tattoo. However Boog, my partner in crime, is nervous about making his flight back to Europe. Something about a job, whatever that is.

I humbly thank you for your advice, you are swell!

If BM works its magic, Boog will go home 2 weeks late, wearing only a loincloth and decorated like the Maori warrior I know he is inside.

Thank you for the links, I was thinking something very small, but those photos are inspiring

Oddly enough, Rock Springs, WY has a large Biker community and thus, an unusually high number of tattoo parlors.

Thank you Trishntek and AntiM

I forgot about the bikers! Yeah, maybe they like tattoos...

I appreciate the advice, that helps a lot. I had a mind blank about using the internets to search for tattoo artists. Like somehow they were so gothically beyond technology that they don't advertise lol.

This will be my first tattoo experience. I've never gone beyond the pierced ears I got in 6th grade, but this has been a year of changes and I'm feeling the need for something sacramental, the outward manifestation of hard won inner grace. I just don't want my foot to fall off in the process.

So, now that Ed Hardy is mainstream and you see children wearing socks with his stuff, hasn't the whole tattoo thing peaked and gone passe?

And why am I using a french word like "passe" anyway?

Mr Hardy's stuff seems a little twee to me.

And this is not just a question of getting a tatt for the heck of it, this will be a stamp of authenticity :)
