Hi Comrades.

I got a small shipment of 7 manequin molds, all faces. As an art project for the perimiter of the camp, the following is submitted for your comment and discussion.

When you look at the well-lit inside of a mask (the side that molds the mannequins) and relax your gaze, an illusion of an inverted face pops out at you. As you hold this illusion and move around or walk by, it appears the face is following you. You may have seen expamples of this at Disneyland or the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco.

As for our camp, it's just creepy enough, suggests an all-seeing sentry, and touches on a psyche theme of paranoia. We could mount them atop the fence posts like framed heads on pikes. Monochrome paint could be different on each I suppose, or just white or silver with different color bright LED's and Batteries. If anybody has a set of those solar powered landscape lights we would be in a perfect "set it and forget it" style, maybe even a single sentry out on the playa. Your thoughts?

I love it! I think white light would be really eerie....not too much for the multicolored look.

Roger that, Maniac and Genius. It looks like the solar landscape lights have gotten pretty cheap and blueish white is the brightest light. With the Kernul's mask making talent he might have a good idea on framing, mounting for the daytime look. Maybe a look that says: "This could have been your head on a pike so watch out!".

Very swanky idea Mr. J!!!

Perhaps you could email me a pic of one of them so as to see the possibilities. Perhaps placing them face in, inside a small box with the solar light fitted inside.

Play out the paranoia idea with this-- it seems to be right.

I was thinking of getting some of the solar powered lights- they only seem to need a dusting off of the photoelec panel now and then.

So many projects, so little time.

Monday, August 29th at 12:01 am the event opens. Do NOT attempt to arrive earlier than that or you WILL be turned away at the gate -unless you've made prior arrangements both with the event and with your theme camp.
