Re: It's not a matter of "hate"
its good that you finally realized the joke of what the man has come to represent. its not a community thing, and its come to qualify what many veterans (incl me) wanted bman to avoid.DeepSpace wrote:But I thought we were supposed to leave the pop culture bullshit of the Default World behind?
and forget doing anything about it, fallout and turnover have come to support whatever its built for. its larry harvey's pet project, and if you fuck with it... well, look foreward to at least a year in prison depending on what you do.
TRIBUTE:
something given or contributed voluntarily as due or deserved
Like the TICKET that gets you in the gate and the assurance it provides that SOMEONE will gather your ashes and mail them home if you are so lucky to fully participate at the random measure of devotion camp, or if you wander around aimlessly so as to be the last person on the playa and someone finally asks you if you need a lift.

Read it again, please.
Even if BM founder Larry Harvey makes a tribute, he'd be the first one to say that it'd be fine if you chose not to embrace it. It takes a while to get used to playa freedom as opposed to American fear-ridden freedom.

hey man chill out, why dont you try to have a good old bit of fun? in the spirit of winter, i shall post this video

old gamers (and people who use abit of intuition) would know that song came from an ice-based level, hence it is appropriately themed for the time of year...
but anyway on a more serious note, i thought burning man , and alot of other festivals in general, was different for the sake of letting people do whatever they wanted? not as in different for the sake of being different, because that's insular and isolationist, its not some kind of secret underground movement or something
as i see it, the festival is a 'different thing' existing in the same world as the rest of us, not 'the same thing' just in a different, imaginary world...

sorry, but when i edit my posts, it is for a reason... heck i cant even remember what i edited my post for, i thought it was for a spelling mistake, or to rephrase something to make it clearer...gyre wrote: I think your post was better before you edited.

ETA: this note and to fine tune a grammatical point.

Michael's Royalty trumps our petty concerns. The world may have ended last month. We're just who's left after Micheal's rapture.
Never really cared for MJ...and by the time I perfected the moonwalk, it wasn't cool anymore.
