Who's Selling Ice: 2013

A unique and distinctive culture emerges from the Burning Man experience. Rooted in the values expressed by the Ten Principles, this culture is manifested around the globe through art, communal effort, and innumerable individual acts of self-expression. To many, it is a way of life.

All you slingers on Tuesday made it look so easy. I did a shift slinging on Thursday and it bout near killed me. Music surely helps.

i didn't make it :( i actually thought i saw you a couple of times randomly, but always upon closer inspection, it wasn't you.
that makes 2 things i regret about the burn - all revolve around not meeting many of you. i only met 2 eplayans this year.
i'll do better next year!

The first year I knew about the M&G (2010) I didn't make it over there either. 2011 was actually my first.

It's better that you had a great Burn & came back to tell everybody about it. :D

Well then, you met 1/6 of eplaya. There's really only 9 to 12 REAL people, each just has between 10 to 362 personalities or socks. Shit, even some of the multiple personalities have multiple socks.

So the "How was working with Arctica" questionnaire came out today.
That got me to thinking I'd like to hit up Arctica staff now about our shift next year.

Originally talking with Bob Cat Queen, we discussed rounding up a HUGE group and working center camp rather than Ice Cubed.
Pros: Center camp has 4 registers, and is a bigger operation so more eplayans could come.
Its easier for everyone from all parts of the city to get there.

Cons:Its bigger, so even if we do have a big group we might have to work more.
Airport Mayor and Heidi don't manage the shifts at Center Camp.

Whats everyone's thoughts?
How hard was it for the 9 O'clock side folks to get to Ice Cubed by 9am?
Do we prefer being over staffed and having more slack off free time?

If we can get a bunch of ePlayans to take a shift anywhere, count me in!! It's been so fun both years I've helped at Ice Cubed... but I think that bunch could rock any Ice Station!!!

Where doesn't matter, it's Who that really counts! YAY, team!!!

Count me in. I was so jealous of the folks working ICE. Greeting is great fun but I was soooo hot on the early morning shift. (And of course I'll never stop greeting.) I would love to work an eplaya ICE shift.

i vow to not miss the eplaya shift next year! and agree, where does not matter one bit. personally, i'd rather not work at 9am, but again, regardless, i'm making it in 2014!

Sounds about right!
And the other general consensus was that if we have 'too many' people then that means all just have to work less.

What days do you greet?
We had a sorta not official ice shift on Thursday too. Same time same place.

Thats just nonsense!
Its the best time to work ice. We're done by Noon, just in time to get back to camp eat some lunch and go party, or take a nap through the heat of the day and be ready to go for the evening!

Ooooo... Count me in too.

An ice shift sounds like a great chance to have some fun with fellow ePlayans while providing a useful service for fellow burners.

Someone let me know what I have to do to sign up :D

I would say step 1 would probably be, sticking around or coming back here the first part of next year and look for a thread that will probably be titled something like "Who's Selling Ice: 2014"

My knee jerk reaction was "BUY ICE! BUY ICE WITH THEM!"

I probably spent mine on more ice and the beef jerky and coffee on the drive home.

Illydilly, Thanks I'll make a note of it. You mention coffee on the ride home. That reminds me. There wasn't any. I left Tuesday morning and wanted coffee. NOT indian tacos or all the other concessions sold on the Hwy. Coffee was scarce and I had to wait till Reno. I'm sure there were closer places but my rider and I couldn't find em.

I said Nixon. That store where 446 and 447 meet. I'm pretty sure I bought it there one year. Of course, if it's not a common item and they buy it for the burn, they may not buy enough to last through exodust.

Ya know, to be honest, between Fernley and Gerlach I'm not entirely sure what town is what.
It kinda feels like Fernley just turns into Wadsworth.
Is Nixon where there are always a bunch of people pulled over, people begging for tickets, and some sort of stand that sells goggles, dust masks, and all sorts of burner stuff?
