All About Participating in the Pottie Project

A unique and distinctive culture emerges from the Burning Man experience. Rooted in the values expressed by the Ten Principles, this culture is manifested around the globe through art, communal effort, and innumerable individual acts of self-expression. To many, it is a way of life.

I've done greeter collating many times. It's feasible, I'm just not sure the efficacy is worth the expense.
There, corrected it for clarity.

There once was a hunk of a man

He used it with glee
Then said 'Oh dear me'

I really wasn't going to make any swag this year. But...Since I'm going to solicit 'Pottie Friends' for each of the banks in my sector I decided to make some for them. These are round lockets. There are 2 pictures inside. One of a porta pottie and one of pooping man.

Those are awesome Ratty.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Feel free to wear it if you come out.
Me, I wear white and very light colors, and I prefer wearing my own stencils on my tshirts. Because, you know, art.

Yeah, I know, it was commercial (and not a very good grade T-shirt), and the wrong color for the desert. But when I saw it, I thought of you.

I need to write an article for BRC weekly. Maybe I'll write a rant about these dipshits comments and their idiotic ideas about me and how things work.
Unhealthy obsession about feces?
No bumfuck, an unhealthy obsession about Burningman.
Ass wipes that call me shrill can just shut their fucking mouth and listen to the words.
I'm so fucking angry, I could spin this energy into a pretty decent article

Don't forget, you'll catch more flys with honey than vinegar.

You've been at this much longer than I have, RD, and your work is very much appreciated. Sometimes though people would rather be educated than yelled at. I know you take your shitty job very seriously but we're all fucked if people don't change their ways. Maybe a softer touch would get through a bit better? Don't take yourself too seriously. This is supposed to be fun! Just a thought from someone looking in.

I have been makings presentation more positive based than negative for exactly that reason. I stopped attacking many years ago in favor of modeling my spew as a funny educational stand up routine. I stopped saying no to hovering and yes to doing it a stupid proof way.
I'm in a very weakened state right now. The crying isn't exactly about my art.

Robbi, I appreciate what you're doing, even though I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet.

Having had to dump and clean RV septic tanks many times over the years, I appreciate what you do to try to keep slobs from making porta-potties uninhabitable. Most events I go to that use porta-potties, I just try to hold it until I can get home, because they get so disgusting from the slobs. No way could I wait that long at Burning Man. So, I am glad that there's someone doing preemptive sanitary social engineering, and I look forward to volunteering on your team.

Frankly, knowing that you're on the job is one of the things that makes me think I can survive Burning Man as a newbie.

Thanks aplavin for the positiveness. I'm hope the RV users were grateful. or maybe they treated you like the help.

I'll post my camp location at The V Spot/Playa Info so you and others can find me.
This whole thing I do is really about social engineering. Other organizations are catching on, because they can be horrifying. It's a slow and sometimes disheartening process, but it does work. I have to believe this.

Further reflections on the megaphone. It was a cheap $40 radio crap model, got squeaky due to dirt, but I not only was able to save my voice longer, but I wasn't so exhausted.

That year I changed the fundamental paradigm of my spew to positive encouragement rather than lecturing and ranting. Yah, I got scary at times, but I was alone in all this horror. I feel much better now.

Yes, I get really pissed off, tired and dehydrated, and it comes out the bullhorn still. So kill me!
Spend some time in my shoes before you make judgements. You can tell me to Stfu and drink though. A hug works too. Volunteering for a bit is nice. Reminding me I'm not alone anymore just might get me back on the planet surface

You're doing awesome work out there RD. Fuck the naysayers. They need to spend a day in your shoes.

I was thinking about this some comparing it to my art project and remembered an incident last year where a drone flew near us on Saturday (drones are banned on Saturday). I fucking lost it. The rules are as clear as day yet this asshole thought it was no big deal and went ahead anyway. I was ready to literally smash his drone into pieces. This happened ONCE and gave me a fuck you all attitude for the next two days.

You must deal with violations towards your project hundreds of times throughout the burn. Maybe more? Good lord I'd fucking lose it too. You take it very seriously, like I do with mine, yet fucktards blatantly disregard your efforts and common sense. Thinking though this I see how some Level V meltdowns happen -- Kuddos for even sticking with it this long. Seriously. I'd have comitted murder by the 5th asshat dumping garbage or wetwipes in.

Really digital, wtf!
The meltdown cited in the .me comments was me telling everyone in the cafe that one of the guys had gotten his throat sliced by an exploding hose when garbage got caught in it. I thought I came off clear and succinct in that speech. I didn't know if he'd live or not at that moment. Raw sewage got in the wound.
There are some occasions that warrants rant, but that wasn't one of them. I got a full cafe ovation.

RD, you are doing something much needed by this community, but largely unrecognized.
I Personally wouldn't get too worried about comments posted on an anti burner site like burners.me

That being said, perhaps you need t tone down the megaphone.

Although I have never encountered you in megaphone mode, that seems to be the main complaint here.
Personally I can take about 10 second= of megaphone unless they funny.

Which is certainly my goal, that and pertinent, poignant, informative and brief.
The bullhorn, indeed amplification, is an extension of my art, as I am a language artist.

I quite literally do public speaking as a primary function of my artistic expression.
I make stream of consciousness PSA's. I get a great deal of compliments out there.

How many people can say they regularly get compliments about their bullhorn style?
I am not some blathering hippie on shrooms!
I am clear, speak in complete sentences and come to a point.
And in the land of clunky lights, to accomplish what I have already accomplished requires the positive attention of as many ears and brains as I possibly can.
To quiet me would be a severe and destructive handicap.

That would be like telling a guitar player he can only play acoustic. Ever.
Or a painter that is only allowed to make small framed pictures.
Or a dancer that is denied any other form but the waltz.

DAB: I decline your recommendation, and invite you to actually hear my art form before passing judgement about my art.

RD, my apologies if my comment offended you because that wasn't my intent. I suppose it should have been worded better.

It also was not my intent to pass judgment on your art, merely to make an observation about how the negative comments seemed to target the megaphone.

I have heard it or at least some of it, we just didn't encounter each other as I was actually in the Jots at the time.

Holy shit! (hehe) If that .me commenter heard your rant and didn't take away the seriousness of "someone has just been seriously injured by what probably seems like a minor uncool thing to do to a lot of people" then they're an insensitive idiot. I mean at first glance the don't put anything in the portos that didn't come out of your body seems basic and not *that* big a deal but once you hear about the United guys having to reach in to unclog the pipe or being injured like that you'd have to completely lack any human empathy not to see that how terrible a situation dropping something in a port can create. And there there's the whole no United staff = no Burning Man thing too. Wow. People can be such dicks.

OK now Robbi. You said that obnoxious patterns are just fine. Right? This is my first apron for those of us that put up the potty signs. The pockets are roomy and gape so you can reach in and out without looking. The ties are long and fabric is lightweight cotton. I'll make some more from different patterns.

I made 4 moop/biddie bags from an old cotton dress. Each one has a 'D' ring for attaching stuff. Very light weight cotton. It should be the right size for your stenciling. (BTW. I may block all future texts because you won't let me get up from the sewing machine.)

One measly megaphone is too wimpy. I think robbidobbs's new Poopmobile should be the Dancetronauts car. I hear that they're loud enough to get the message across, and their DJ is used to this sort of material.
