Houstonian virgin planning to burn the first time in 2016

Post by RudolphDiesel » Thu Nov 05, 2015 7:22 pm

For many years I have been searching for something I can believe in. The spirit of burning man hits a certain set spot, especially after some hard problems life threw my way. So, the plan is to pack up my wonderful wife and maybe friends of us and make the treck to BM 2016.

the most wonderful wife and I have done some rather interesting tent camping, so that should not be too much of a problem, but what I am wondering where to find a camp? I know we could go without joking a camp but that sounds like only half the fun.

So, where can I find some camps willing to take in/on 2 to 4 virgins?

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

RudolphDiesel. Welcome to eplaya. It's really early to try and find a camp. Things change from year to year. I haven't even washed my car yet. Camps don't know if they'll be there next year. They don't know how many of their camp members are coming. There is a lot of great information here. I suggest you use google to search these halls of knowledge. Read about everything you can think of on eplaya. And then read some more. Research your area for burners and events where you can connect to local folks. Go to the BM site and read about last years camps in the archives. Sign up for the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter. You have plenty of time but let me warn you...When it's time to pull out of the driveway you won't be ready. Start now and enjoy the anticipation. Hang around here and let us get to know you. This board is a great resource full of really helpful burners. Welcome to you and yours.

Thank you all for the welcome!

I am listening, and at the same time, I feel somewhat overwhelmed as to what will all be needed for 100% self reliance.Really looking forward to the experience! Our group is going to consist out of one Dr (MD) and a Computer/electric/electronic/ whatever guy + our "support staff" ;)

Feeling overwhelmed.... Hah! Wait until you arrive in Black Rock City!

Since your wife is an MD, she might look into volunteering with the Emergency Services Department. Seems they were shorthanded this year. Mind you, she might not get to work as an MD, but in a support role -- questions of licensing and contracts and such, ya know. There is a surgeon from England who has a blast in a support role every year. (Very cute lady she is, too.)

But.... Don't jump into any volunteering right away. Perhaps not even your first year. See wisecrack above. But she might want to make contact with them this year.

There are others on this board who volunteer with ESD, so one of them might pipe up.

Don't believe in the burn. It's just a camping trip in the desert.

But it is a camping trip where I can walk out of the tent naked and nobody bats an eye!
