Welcome to ePlaya! The instructions and videos are online. There are probably some hexayurt discussions on ePlaya which can be found by search. Some people use Figjam coolers or air conditioners if they have power.

If you want to camp with other hexayurts or talk to builders, the best way to answer your question is to look up all the regionals in the Bay & Sacramento on https://regionals.burningman.org/. Then contact them through their social media, emails, and go to their happy hours and meetups. Hexayurts are a very good shelter solution, though now we know they need a floor for rain leaking in from the ground and they need guy lines for wind anchored by lag bolts.

Thank you for being so helpful! I live in the good Ole sippy and will be flying into Oakland. Look forward to seeing you and SOTP. You guys are very active here and I feel like I could potentially learn a lot.

You will want to think hard about building a hexayurt on Playa. The process is very moopy and you need to collect all the bits and pieces that are created by cutting foam. You will be able to buy foam in Reno, but I suggest bringing the tape with you. Hot wires, bread knives, and skill saws with the blade installed backward all cut foam fairly well.

Thanks for the input Popeye. I've done a decent amount of research on the yurt and moop on https://www.appropedia.org/Hexayurt_pro ... _checklist.
All be staying at a family members house in OAK and plan to build it there and rent a box truck for transport (among other items).
Have you ever done a yurt or seen them?
What is your preferred structure?

I've worked with a lot of Polyisocyanurate, helped erect a few hexayurts but never built one from scratch. The logistics are hard and they are just too shiny for me.
Cargo vans in the Bay are scarce at about that time.
You might want to read some of the threads on here.

hellooo, we have a hexayurt and love it, the inside looks like the Taj Mahal. We recently built a new one too. The 50-page thread on here about hexayurts is super helpful as is the apropedia page. Ping me if you have specific questions, and there’s also a hexayurt fb page.

Thanks for reaching out leaf! With extensive research, we've decided to go with the Six Foot Stretch Apex Hexayurt. Seems the most practical since we'll be getting a box truck for transport this year and itll be the two of us. Is your new yert this way? What made you build a new one?
