another FL burner
I just moved to Jacksonville from the Sacramento area. Are there any burners in north Florida?

Thanks!!
I've checked out the Lakeland one already (only 3.5 hours from me) and would love to have some North FL peeps to attend it with. It's always more fun (and environmentally friendly) to travel in a group.
I'm also hoping there are some local burners that can welcome me to the default world of north Florida. . . it's very conservative here. I have yet to find a place that will recycle my cardboard boxes, let alone people who think outside the box.

AGREED.. FL is a very difficult place for us to handle socially. As beautiful as it is here, the people are my only complaint. You really have to work to find the outlets and snippets of beautiful/out of the box people, as they are few and far between. I handle it by finding my own fun and enjoying all of the other things that living in FL has to offer.. like water, beaches, boating, springs, etc etc etc and just tune into that and try to tune out the racist redneck BS or plastic fantastic douchebaggery. It can be done, but is going to take some serious adjustment coming from CA..bambam1225 wrote:Thanks!!

yet another jacksonville first time burner here...super stoked to see that other jax peeps are headed to BRC as well. we're flying into vegas and are being picked up by a friend going to BM from new mexico so i can't be of assistance to those looking for rides and whatnot, BUT, it would be nice to have some local burners to hang with on the playa, and perhaps even when we're in jax.

Hello Firefro!firefro wrote:Hello everyone!!
I have been wanting to go to Burning Man for 2 years and I decided that 2011 is the year for me. I have read up on a lot of the material provided by the site but I am here to ask the veterans for any newby advice not illustrated on the website. Especially for someone who is travelling from Florida.
Thanks in advance and I can not wait to see you all in 2011.
Firefro
I'm also from Florida (Citrus). Always happy to meet other others who will be attending Burning Man. This will be my second burn! I can't wait... I just check on-line and I should have my tickets either today or tomorrow!
