It's pointless, but you have to understand the physics.

It must be glass with no stress fractures.
Thin smooth plate glass is easier, of course.

Use a good industrial suction cup.
The cutting edge must be undamaged, pristine, and lubricated.
It helps to peen from the back, impossible in the film scenario.

Don't pull the piece.
Twist, on axis with the circle.
Then pull.


I can think of much easier ways to do it.

I used to do stained glass professionally, new and restoration.


A friend of mine used to be special projects manager for the big glass distributor here.
She learned how to do all sorts of apparently impossible things with glass.

I never had the chance to do any, but I was always interested in fusing and shaping.
I knew Dorothy Sturm, and talked to her about the annealing ssues.
I solved those, with a visit to murano glass works.

Their tech is open source, amazingly.
