Greetings from the frozen land of Minnesota! 2008 will be my first burn. I've got my ticket and am doing plenty of "research."
I still don't know how or with who I'm making it out to the playa. I figure the right situations and people will present themselves in due time. I'm looking forward to meeting new people here and learning what I can. I am a shiatsu and massage therapist and hope to be able to gift my skills during the burn.

Yep, that's one of the reasons I moved.
Mmm, frozen hair and car batteries. That's the type of weather where you can be inside a toasty warm room, look outside and actually see the cold, in the air.
You'll have no problem dealing with the harsh conditions of the playa, instead of freezing cold, it gets really hot, and dusty, then kinda cool at night.
Bring shade, goggles, dust mask, and a freaky coat for late night chillout.

Yeah, a dude I know here in MN was telling me that the playa weather shouldn't phase me since I'm used to it here. His first year all his Bay Area friends were 'warning' him how hot and cold it got and he kept waiting for the worst and was fine. Even the dust storms weren't as bad as the blizzards here he said. I thought that was funny.

Hello from Minneapolis
Hey Jess:
I work in Minneapolis, live in St. Louis Park. This will be my first burn (after reading about it for so many years).
I'm so tired of this cold weather...ready for heat. I don't care if the dust comes with it...I'm ready for Summer.
