Can a first timer join an established camp?

Post by sampeckinpah » Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:57 pm

Greetings!

So I'm finally going to go this year and want to join a camp to help with the logistics. I'm happy to work, including build stuff, cook and clean.

I'm 31, male, from the northeast. I work as an engineer. I'm very easy going and have been to a couple multi-day camp-in music festivals (Reggae on the River, Bonnaroo, Woodstock 94) but nothing like the mars mission that this seems to be. I'd like to share resources for getting into the site, water, and other survival essentials.

I've got some friends who are experienced burners and good people who I will meet up with once I'm inside.

Hope to hear from you!!!

Hey Sam, Welcome..

You got me confused..(easy to do BTW)

Looking for a camp to join and then hooking up with your friends?? Why not join them to begin with??

See my confusion?? :? :? :?

Anyway you get home is fine by me, but keep it simple.. It works better....

I read stuff here and posted a few things. Also read the theme camp link on the official site.

Do that and email a few people and chat with a few people and you should be able to get an invite to join a camp.

Consider doing the same on tribe.net

Worked for me.

In my case the logistics of traveling 5000 miles (rt) have been made MUCH simpler by inclusion in a theme camp.

Of course the purist might criticize the lack of 'radical self reliance' but hey, even Larry lives in a trailer and has others cook his meals at BM.

Cheers,
Igneouss

I would suggest being more proactive and finding camps that you want to be part of, rather than sitting back passively and hoping to be adopted.

I really appreciate the advice! By the way... the crew I'm meeting up with has to get there early, before Aug 31 to set up their stuff. I can't get out there that early because of work. That's basically why I need logistical help getting me and survival supplies into BRC. Thanks again... I'll be happy to share my whiskey with you on the playa... at night I'll be wearing a light blue addidas tracksuit... cheers!

So are you camping with your friends and just needing a ride to get to BRC, or are you looking for an actual camp to join? It's really hard to tell from your two posts and the advice you'll get will be totally different depending on what it is.

So you want to get on another camp's early entry list so you can skip them and jump to another camp? Good luck with your adventure.

It isn't clear what you are asking:

"I'd like to share resources for getting into the site, water, and other survival essentials."

A resource for getting into the site would be a ticket, and it's not too difficult on the main site to see how those are purchased. That resource might also be transportion? "Water and other survival essentials": Are you stating a need for somebody to bring these for you, or Saying you would like to help a camp and bring some of these items to share with them? But you won't be camping with this camp, you will be joining your friends? And your friends doing their earlier thing cannot bring these for you?

I surmise you are asking for a ride, and all the stuff you need "logistically" which would be water and food?, in return for your help building, cooking, and cleaning, but you'll be somewhere else, with other people.... oh my brain hurts.

I wish you success in any case.
