2010 Newbie from Oregon, question pls
Hi, I am 51, married, live in Pdx area. I am a wine rep during the day and photographer on the side. I want to go to BM in 2010. Unfortunately my husband or friends dont feel the same way. Can you recomend how to hook up with people of similiar age in PDX or in general to join a theme camp? I really appreciate it. Want to go so bad, not into drugs, just want to groove on the art and wonderful people. Thx!

i was wondering the same thing a year ago...
i just hung around this site, and ended up meeting people and learning about various camps. several camps look for people to help out, they often post here. i think you can email a camp that sounds interesting, look at the theme camp directories. look into tribe, as well. it was a lot easier than i thought!

Hi winebuff and shroom,
A good place to start is always the Regionals webpage. That will get you in touch with the regional network and hopefully lead you to some local meet-ups and such. There is a wealth of burners in the Portland area. Also check the regionals area of the eplaya.
Welcome and if you ever need help, just ask around on the board. There’s lots of helpful folks to get to know here.

Spousal approval can be a touchy thing. My wife doesn't go and prolly never will, but she's OK with me going. If the spouse is not OK with the idea of the other going there may be rough roads ahead. Proceed with caution and consideration of your partner.

There was an after burn in PDX but I had to work. Sucha bummer. Yes, my spouse is very comfortable with me going on my own. He trusts me. He is my best friend. I am more the outgoing one and friendly. He would rather stay at home. Good balance. Now need to figure out the whole rebar situation with the tent and shad. Any links? Man, pardon the pun, alot of planning but I am willing to pay my dues!

I thought Seattle Airport was called SeaTac.
I know, that's not the three letter code that they use for baggage and whatever other official things they use it for, but still...
What I really want to know--Is there KSEA, KPDX, KLAX, KRNO, and WORD? Because I've noticed that there is often a radio station with call letters that are the appropriate W or K and the airport three letter code.

Indeed, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is often affectionately referred to as SeaTac. Just a few years ago the commercial/residential area surrounding the airport was incorporated...the city's name: Seatac...yuk!theCryptofishist wrote:I thought Seattle Airport was called SeaTac. I don't think there's a KSEA radio station...at least not one that I listen to...don't know about KLAX, KRON, or WORD.
Google Airport 3-Letter Identifiers for an interesting historical perspective on how these codes came into being.

KRON is a radio station. And a tv. In San Francisco. I was asking about KRNO.
And well, at least you can say that that city's name is Seatacky.

Silk/fake flowers? Wind test them. If you do not have access to a wind tunnel, take them in your hand and beat them against the wall. If pieces fall off at home, then they will fall off in the wind on the playa and become MOOP. I made a bouquet for my Mrs Bucky, and I reglued each petal and leaf so it would not shed.
Ah, experience! You'll see fake flowers out there, some do well, other not so much. They're major dust collectors too, so have plastic bags to wrap them in until you can toss them or clean them.
