Trying for Burning Man 2010 - from UK

Post by chick_dastardly » Mon Sep 14, 2009 6:08 am

Each year around this time I see the Burning Man pics turn up on flickr and I soooo need to get there!

So I figure I'm going to try and make it next year so I thought I should introduce myself as I'm bound to be asking a lot of questions cos I'm having to get there from li'l England :)

Haven't been to America since a New York holiday with the family when I was 13. hmmmmm not quite the same.

I do a lot of the festivals over in the UK, prefer to take a van but that may be difficult to sort out on the other side of the pond.

Hopefully see you at BM'10!

quick question - i'll probably rent an RV but I'll have friends that'll want to take tents instead and we'll want to be in a group - i take it we can park up and pitch up in the same area next to each other?

Are you anywhere near Belper?

If you do rent an RV,you're NOT going to burning man! Wash it from top to bottom, inside and out...AND change the air filters!! Before you return it. They hate burning man..

Hi Chick,
i agree with Tom Servo you'll have much more fun in a tent. i flew solo from England this year, first time in the States and first time at BM. I hooked up with a theme camp via email which helped a lot, point is I just slept outside on a sun lounger in a sleeping bag - which was just fine. Not suggesting you rough it, you will need to get organised. Youll miss out if you do it RV style. For now get your ticket when ticket sales start (January?) then book your Luton van ASAP, get to the states aweek before BM and PREPARE. Load up and drive safe.
Mail me if you like. Good luck Oh! and if you are a performer of something - bring it!
