Heyo from Montana!

Post by Parasitoid » Tue Nov 10, 2009 11:52 am

Howdy. I have been watching this forum for a while and figured it was time to register and introduce myself.

2009 was my first year attending burning man... I had such a great time! It was everything I expected and more! I was happy to find myself over prepared with water and food and I definitely brought way too much variety of clothes. I didn't realize how much ice was going to be available so next year I will definitely be bringing a larger variety of food!

I went with two male friends, we made a PVC/tarp shade structure and put our tents and gear under there.

Man do I wanna get back there. A large portion of my brain is now reserved and in use for burning man planning. It's fun getting more friends interested too.

It seems like our camp of three will expand to at least a dozen, and most likely more for 2010.

Thanks to everyone for putting on such a great first burn for me.

I think with enough fresh ideas and energy we can make 2010 the first year no one says "it was better last year". :-)

Peace, Love, Thanks and Respect.

welcome to eplaya, Parasitoid;

That seems an odd name for a self-reliant kind of person like yourself. I'm sure you'll tell us all about it some day.

Hidee-ho, Parasitoid. I like the way you seek first to understand. You're like the guy who shows up in a rainstorm with two umbrellas-- always welcome.

Well what better time than the present!

I really like this first line of the Wikipedia article on parasitoids

"A parasitoid is an organism that spends a significant portion of its life history attached to or within a single host organism which it ultimately kills (and often consumes) in the process. Thus they are similar to typical parasites except in the certain fate of the host."

That description reminds of a certain type of creature... I am sure you can guess the one I mean :-)

I feel that by confronting my (true) nature I am better equipped to overcome it.

I was born in Kalispell as well, and my wife in Great Falls, (thank God neither lived in Butte). Maybe we need a Montana lunch at BM

I think that is a great idea, I am flying back to Bozeman to go down to Burning Man this year. A montana reunion would be fun on the playa!

I spent a day in Butte back in the 90s. I kinda liked it. Didn't get to see the Berkeley Mine, I have odd taste in tourist attractions.
The memory is bittersweet, as that trip is the last time I saw my sister.
