From PDX to Playa!

Post by epic_elite » Sat Jan 23, 2010 10:02 pm

hey kids.

this will be my second burn. I opted out last year in favor of getting married.

...growing up is overrated.

Greetings from Portland, OR!

Congratulations! If 2008 was your first and only Burn then you should definitely be fine. ;) God that year was fucked.

thanks!

it feels like it's been entirely too long.

i found out that it pays off to research and to put in some hard work.
we have some good friends who have been to many burns. they stopped by after finding us registered in the center camp and said, "how many times have you guys done this?"

we showed up with food and water for an army and 3 shade structures for 4 people.

it felt good to actually contribute to the neighborhood as there seems to be a stigma against 'spectators'. The neighbors, less prepared, would show up and eat breakfast and take noon time naps in the shade on our air matresses.

super stoked to go back.

i just put a weather applet on my desktop for Gerlach right next to the Portland one so i can be reminded of the playa every day. except right now Gerlach is 10 degrees colder than here. :(

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

thanks. :)

any other portland burners in here???

i know portland has a sizeable burn community because ive driven down I-5 the day before the event to hit the mall and got stuck in a gridlock last year. the people talk about it relentlessly as the time comes near, but i haven't seen n e 1 in here yet.
