Namaste. Decided I'd join the eplaya to get myself acquainted with some burners. Ive never personally went to the Burn, but have more than a few friends who have. Figured 2010 would be my year. Didnt buy a ticket, hoping to either find one in the near future or to be able to volunteer or to paint live there. anyhow. figured id say hello. :)

Hi, Andy. Hope you have a good time.

You might want to move on that ticket today, if you have the cash - the cheaper tickets sell quickly. If I understand you correctly, you're hoping to volunteer in exchange for a ticket. My understanding is that such requests are usually declined.

ePlaya is a place to meet burners, but it's not the only place and sometimes, not really the best place. There are regional contacts - eyballing the map, I find that the closest one to you appears to be the Charlotte contact, Billy Funderburk. Charlotte is a 132 mile ride from you (129 miles if you use the nonlinkable Google map's route, maybe a little more than you'd want to travel daily, but I do see a a local fire group on tribe, for people in Asheville, itself. You might be able to meet some people offline through there, and connect to the nearest burner community, that way.

There is also a group on Tribe.net for Transformus, your regional gathering, and a few other links, as well, on the Charlotte contact page that I linked to, above, and on the "tribes" (groups on Tribe.net) I've mentioned, which you might find to be of interest, including a Yahoo group for burners in the Carolinas.
When in doubt, hit the ignore key. You'll seldom miss anything worth reading, and your blood pressure will thank you.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

...Asheville has a huge - very active - burner community. If he hasn't found it, he's not trying very hard.
