Can't W8 Another Year
Can't W8 Another Year
Been going to various gatherings for about 5 years now, and some of my best friends have been going to the Burn for longer than I've known about it. A few of my close friends have been talking about going for way too long and haven't done anything to make it happen, I can't afford to let another year pass without going for it. I screw around with computers to pay the bills, but I'm an artist at heart and I'm going to do everything I can to prepare for 1 week of the unknown. I'm working on some art pieces to bring up with me, and I'm trying to see if my friend that has arc welding equipment will work on an Art Car as well. Will either being making the trek alone or with 3-4 friends. Trying to figure out if I should try joining a Theme camp for my first time, or brave it solo as my friends will inevitably figure out if they're going last minute. Currently lost in L.A. I feel most alive when I'm up North nestled between the Redwoods and the coastline, or somewhere else on the other side of the world, but somehow I know I'll feel most at home once covered in Playa Dust in BRC. As far as I can tell, this will be the first pilgrimage to BRC, but I pretty much know I'll be going back year after year, until I die or can't physically do it anymore. CAN'T WAIT!
Waiting until I can think of a good 1...

! Sounds like ya got the heart for the dust. If was me, would shoot to set-up your own camp (get your bearings straight first year out/make your own rules
) Getting a couple of like-minded camping buddies is a good idea, too. Learn as much as you can about the desert environment

2023 // 7:30 & "G" Plaza :.That's what I was thinking....
Right on Clark! I figured it'd be best to survey the Playa before participating in a theme camp. One of my buddy's is a hardcore desert camper, but has not been to the Burn b4, so if he comes, that will definitely be an advantage. Thanks for the suppt. and motiv8ing words! I'm more of a tea drinker, but maybe the Playa will give me a greater appreciation for the Java. I like making my own rules. But all I can say is I can't wai8 to be arrive at the Playa. It's been a long time coming, but 2k10 is the year it all starts for me. Far from knowing what I'm talking about, I'll venture to say if you haven't been to EarthDance Mendo, I highly recommend it. Seems to be a popular decompression event for fellow burners. I just know I will feel @ home @ the Playa, and can't wait (have I said that enough yet??) to make it to home base, FINALLY!!

Welcome to EPLAYA Trypta!
This is a very fun and informative site, although some of us on occasion can get SNARKY, self included.
Please try to keep that in its own perspective and grow thick skin budd'y.
If ya can handle a little ribbing every once in awhile, its all gravy after that.
And believe me, Non-of us are snarky at HOME!(BRC)

Welcome!
Art cars are now "mutant vehicles" and pretty heavily regulated. There are many folks here who can fill you in on the details, ways and whys and hows, and do look on the main site at the DMV requirements.
Solo can be a great way to start, but then, so can a theme camp if you find like minded people.

@ Pinemom. Thx for the welcome! I've a farily tough skin as I work in the Dungeons w/ a bunch of no good crazy ass IT freq's, where no holds are barred. I have no doubt that BRC is the place for me, as it's something I've been drawn to for many, many moons, but have unfortunately put on the back burner 4 waaay too long.
@AntiM - I'll be sure to read up some more on the Mutant Vehicles and as of yet I am undecided on Theme vs. Solo. All I know for sure is I got my freaking ticket and I've got a lot of work ahead of me. I have a great feeling deep down inside that a week in @ the Playa is exactly what the Dr. has prescribed. Which Dr.? I have not idea, but I KNOW I'm on the right path. No doubt about that.
