Hello there!

My name's Fufa! With me are 4 other young folks, and my boyfriend's (really) old man. No one's ever been to BM before, so we're all excited. We're driving down from Edmonton, AB on a sweet road trip. Any other Edmontonians (or Canadians for that matter) out there?

Alberta has a pretty decent burner crowd!!! Check out the regional burn info @ http://www.albertaregionalburn.org/Home.html I'll see ya there...

I'm from Saskatoon! It is a decent drive, but not too bad if there are spare drivers {grin}

Check out & read the First Timers and Preparation guides till you have them memorized. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask (Ok, some answers are not helpful, but ya get what ya pay for!

Haha I think it was seeing all the "grown-ups" when he was cruising the website that convinced him to join us. I don't know how much he'll enjoy being stuffed in a truck with us for hours on end though.

Rice: we only have two drivers at the moment, but we're taking it easy on the way down and then driving pretty much straight home before school starts. When is the AB Burn? I'd never heard of it before.

I think the most important thing to remember out of your whole BM experience is at the end of it all, since you are driving, remember not to leave the party tired.

You definately won't run short of Canadians! I love Edmonton! Hubby is from Prince Albert, Sask. (I lived there briefly) We were just up there 2 weeks ago (Prince Albert). Best advise on here is be well rested before you start that drive either way! It's a doozy! Oh and the border patrol at Sweetgrass MT/Coutts AB can be uber pricks. We actually got f'd with on the Canadian side this trip. Don't bring anything meaty, fruity or drug like and you should be ok. (Well maybe meaty and fruity, I guess that just depends on what your into??

)
Oh and can you bring me a bag of Old Dutch Dill Pickle chips??

And I thought it was only Canada that got screwed over in the brand-name junk food department.

We had them for a while but they've vanished.

And we never had the Dill Pickle ones.....bastards! Oh and Canada has way better junkfood (Tim Horton's, Aero Bars, Coffe Crisps, crazy flavors of chips that we don't have, although I find the ketchup ones kind of gross) and over the counter drugs (The Tylenols with Codiene in them, 400MG Advil liquigels). LOL! It's probably better that I don't live there any more. LOL!

Please, please read the the Burning Man website about border crossing. I have friends who were turned back last year, and can't come this year over the smallest of infractions. There is a real problem in crossing in some of these locations. Be smart okay? And welcome. My girlfriend is from Calgary. I love her and I love Canadians!!!!!! Welcome!

Tix for Freezer Burn go on sale April 1. It's a nice way to meet other AB burners. If you're on facebook, the group name is "Alberta Regional Burning Man )*(".

Freezer Burn will be on the weekend of June 11/12/13 about 40 minutes east of Red Deer. I know several friends who were able to meet other folks for travels companions and grill veteran burner brains for info.

Plus, if we're lucky, the naked slip and slide will return. Good times!
