Burning itch to get there...

Post by bluesbob » Wed Jun 16, 2010 7:29 pm

I've come to the conclusion that no matter how well I prepare for BM...I'm going to come home dehydrated, malnourished, exhausted, dirty & burnt...with a shit-eating grin from ear to ear.

No matter how much water I drink , I still seem a bit dehydrated after the week. And the first day or so is always sort of an adjustment period. I prep by hydrating well and still have to adjust to the altitude and dryness of the place.

But you are right... ear to ear grin is always there on the drive home.

Perma-grin fer shure. and this over whelming feeling of knowing what is wrong and right in this crazy world. but on the dehydration issue, pay extra attention to your hydration level especially if you've got so other medical issues, but more than likely an experienced burner is going to tell you you look like you need to drink more water. about the only thing I think we legitimately nag each other about. Welcome to eplaya, see you in the dust.

Talcum powder, Gold Bond, and Monkey Butt powder have all been proven to ease the pain of burning itches.

Piss clear.

Yep. The best thing is to start hydrating BEFORE you come to BRC. A week out start drinking your water, always carry a water bottle. But use a CamelBak or bladder when you get there. Then, on the playa, drink yer water from the time you get up till you go to bed. It's possible to drink too much, but unlikely. You should never get thirsty.

And, remember, PISS CLEAR.

Or that's the way I do it.

You just described the whole experience for me. I came with 45 gallons of beer and only 30 gallons of water. Somehow that made sense at the time...

Still, do your research and you'll be fine. If you don't plan well you'll risk turning "minor discomfort" into something life threatening. You should try your damnedest to bring everything you need to survive. Your first time you will forget things but still, if you try hard you'll have a great time.

Share and enjoy.

Clearly not enough beer.

I have 14 pepsi kegs for 70 gallons.

You can always buy more ice on Playa, but you can't buy beer.

Last year I went with camp ATL which had some extra space to store kegs. All I have, personally, is a 9 keg chest freezer. So all I can bring personally, max, is 45 gallons. When I camp with ATL I filled up every remaining keg for a delicious total of 13 kegs. Still shy of your collection. Part of me likes the life of a no-name homebrewer out in the boonies. You really make your neighbors day when they realize that they will have all the homebrewed beer they can drink. It's also sort of nice to be able to close our Costco bar and suddenly it's completely anonymous. Nobody knows which barn to break into if they wanted to open it up themselves for a little self entitlement. I lost almost a gallon of beer last year from someone trying to "open the bar themselves" without having any idea how to use a homebrew keg. Morons. ..And I had to clean up the mess.. My precious beer... ...Preccccioouuuussssssss..... My preccccioouuuussss
