Bring on the Playa!

Post by indiarose » Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:28 pm

Hello everyone :)
I've been thinking about this for a while and with encouragement from my wonderful boyfriend, we'll both be participating for the first time this year. I'm a Certified Massage Therapist and I hope to share my work with fellow Burners. My boyfriend is an artist and writer and a professor of comic books (yes, that's a real job!) In the spirit of the event, we are in the process of constructing a hexayurt - going to test build here at home as soon as the tape arrives! Art bikes and a (hopefully) hand made wardrobe are in the works too. Next on our Burning Man "to -do" list is finding a camp that fits our outgoing personalities. We're looking to pitch in and help create something inspiring and fun.

See you all soon
Anuja and Matt

Welcome aboard, you two!

Maybe I can get you to un-kink my sore shoulder?

How "arty" are your bikes? Are we talking bicycles with decorations, or something wilder?

Thanks for the welcome! Of course you can get a shoulder rub :) I don't know where home is yet, so where will I find you?

As for the bikes - probably end up more on the side of decoration, but I'm going to go as far as I can with my idea.

How long have you taken part in the community?

The reality is that when you arrive in Black Rock City for your first time, all the intentions you have so painstakingly planned out here on E-playa will sail away with the slightly-dusty breeze, and you will have a glorious week without ever looking at your to-do list.

This will be my fifth burn, and this year I'm serious about carrying an alarm clock so I can perhaps make it to a couple of the scheduled events in the course of the week. Normally, I'll set off in the direction of a meet-n-greet, or a workshop, or something -- and never arrive because there are so many enticing distractions along the way.

So don't worry about it! But do read the Survival Guide and other first-timer information on the main web site, and sign up for the Jack Rabbit Speaks e-mail newsletter while you are at it.

LOL Elliott, if you had actually arrived, you'd find nothing there, or people madly scrambling to get the thing going because they got distracted too. But you'll find out if you ever actually set that alarm clock.

God, I love BRC.
