I've posted before... Virgin full of questions.... But as the trip became in excess of $5k+ it became an impossible reality.
Why am I going now?
Well two incredible things happened....
1st My self proclaimed prince of a husband said "screw the RV I don't care if I don't bathe well for a few days."
If you know my husband you'd know that as a truly remarkable thing.
2nd my best friend, co worker, baby sitter and right arm quit over 4th of July. She did come back. But well it did put me into now or never mode.
Our extended family lives in the uk and brazil. So without my friend we spend 24/7 with our children. If my bf left... We'd never leave them with anyone and they are too young for burningman and being a virgin with kids is double intimidating!
Anyway back to now or never.... Seize the day.... Carpe diem and all that. So we're going. No RV. Just me, husband and a car full of supplies. A new set of challenges.
I feel liberated from my mundane life even with the planning!
So I'm embarking on another new journey... Learning to blog.
I want to document my experience so friends and family can experience thru osmosis and fellow burners can comment on my thought.
Please feel free to visit the first few days of my blog : http://burningmanbrit.blogspot.com/

We don't have back up family here. My husands family lives in brazil and mine in uk. So we are with our kids 24/7 apart from my friend.
So f' it. We have to go. No rv. No thrills. Just me and the husband. No RV does present a whole new set of challenges.
So to document this revelation which I can still hardly believe is true, I've begun a blog.
I can't believe I'm going!

I can't believe I'm going!
SJB > UK, Brazil, USA!
Welcome and best of luck to you, you're about to embark on a voyage of epic proportions!! It's not the end of the world in a tent and I believe is damn near mandatory for your initiation as a newbie. Your bravery will be well rewarded, keep up the good work!!
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

Congratulations on your serendipitous circumstances, & the courage to take the opportunity!
Tell your hubby: I'm a prime example of a clean freak, light sleeper and a person whose favorite years at Girl Scout camp involved 3-walled cabins & showers . . . but I still tent it at Burning Man every time, and get my showers haphazardly. And it's so worth it. If I can do it, he can do it.
Just prepare like crazy people, keep a good attitude, release your expectations . . . la la la.

Welcome JheregVonMunch
! Tent camping is the best & quickest way to make the human-to-nature connection
Once you acclimate to the dust (breathing it, on your gear & having it be on you 24/7---there is no resisting it, so alas, embrace it & find beauty therein
) I have seen some other camps who brought very pretentious 1st timers who couldn't grasp why (?) there was so much dust in their tents (one was constantly shaking/brooming it out while the other was constantly reapplying make-up & looking in the mirror, ha!) If self-conciousness to vanity comes into play, remember this: "if you are dusty,it's okay-- chances are, so is every one else"
