San Diego virgin wants to know travel time??
Experienced SD Burners only, please tell me your estimate of the travel time from San Diego to Burning Man. We are traveling using a diesel pickup truck, using a 5th wheel and towing a 40' "Toy Box" RV.
Thanks for your answer!!

Well, I drive up 395 from LA hauling a 26' trailer so for a minute there I thought I could post something useful, but then I re-read the experienced SD burners only and didn't want to offend the guy.
But it is a real pretty ride, I'll say that.
A good way to estimate is to look at some of the map websites like google, yahoo, mapquest and compensate for the 55 mph speed limit on towing.
In my sports car, id look at the 600 or so miles and say 8 hours easy.
Driving my truck n trailer combo, I like to take two days.

It's an RX-8 and yes, I gotta tilt my head right and slide it in the sunroof opening.
I'm only 6'4" when I'm slouching in my standard posture.
HTF did you know I had a Mazda?
And I'll let you know I'm a very well cultured neandrathal.
BTW, OP dude. 395 is closed due to massive mudslide so you get to smell cow shit up I5 with the rest of us.

395 (assuming the landslide is cleared and your trailer can do 45 up the hills at Mammoth, Bridgeport, and Walker) about twelve hours, plus however long you stop. A little shorter if you don't go through Reno (direct from Bishop or Bridgeport to Fernley). A little longer if you do I5, but it seems like a lot longer. About like that, maybe a bit longer if you go via Vegas and the extraterrestrial highway, assuming you don't get abducted (or if you do, they bend time for you).
If you're going to stop for supplies anywhere, especially Reno, plan about six hours for that.
