My name's Ben and i'm from Swansea, Wales (That's in the U.k). Found out about burning man many many years ago, and was dead set on going... the entire event is incredibly exciting to me, right the way from the high concept barter system to the celebrations themself. I can't wait to go.

The only problem i can think of is the fact that i'd be travelling from Britain, so i might have some trouble packing certain amounts of gear to get across... would taking a ferry probably solve this problem? I don't wanna fly straight to the event, i'd rather spend some time driving there :]

Hi Ben i'm from the uk and planning to go to, there are more of us than you think, look in regionals there are a few threads there also, more thn a few camps that will help out with gear

Already read it cover to cover in my thirst for knowledge. Any more personal hints you can offer are more than welcome though. I just wanna be as helpful as possible when i finally get there ^^

In case that link didnt work, Im trying to put together crates, with the basics...for international burners. Tent, stove, tarp, etc..

Well that's incredibly generous, but it's a little early to tell the specifics of my preparation yet. I plan on being there for 2012, so we'll see.

I may take you up on it though if the offer's still there a year or two from now

Not really a barter system, but rather gifting...whatever: a smile, hug, help in camp, food, drink, bling...with no expectation of anything in return.

Heheh, thought i'd get my foor in the door, see what all the hub-bub is about, and mostly importantly, learn enough to not be appear a jackass to the seasoned vets that i'm bound to come aross ^_^

Actually, we seasoned vets don't even bother with the event anymore. We just watch the babes in the woods, desert stumble through on closed circuit and text each other with specious remarks.
