How ya'll doin'? St Louis virgin burner on my way in 2011

Post by deemunny » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:47 pm

I'd heard rumors, but the 6 years of marriage was a wall. The Man found me in 2009 - as the festival was happening I was separating and the intrigue grew and research began. In 2010 I couldn't rush attendance, but 2011 will be my calling.

I'm coming in solo, and well prepared. I'm an old Rainbow Festival guy - followed the Dead and Phish around for a spell... but have since gotten degrees, job, and a long rash of outstandingly good luck. That luck enables me to attend this year in 2011 for my first burn.

I'll be spinning fire poi, sharing hookah, sharing french press coffee, playing doumbek drums, and wandering around. Can't wait to hug you all. I'm overdue.

Watch for the guy in white Japanese clothing (hakama and gi) and an Arabian shemagh headdress on a white bike.

hugs.

Hombre Solito.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome, don't forget to read the guide and ask questions. But you knew that already.. right? Right!

A hakama is a brilliant idea by the way. (almost made one for myself last year) I'm shocked more people haven't thought about it before. Although the utility-kilt with shit kickers is a mighty smexy look.
I have a little bit of Savannah with me. Shhh...

hakamas will suck for riding a bike. I wore belly dancing pants once & regretted it.

The bike thing

Savannah - Hakama are traditional Japanese pants used in sword training. VERY loose and generally light. They are tied at the waist using a formal knot, and have details that rise up the small of the back above the beltline. Very beautiful, very comfortable. The "Gi" is a tied shirt, worn tucked into the Hakama. Mine will be unbleached cotton with a pretty wild hand-sewn geometric pattern all over it. Again, loose and beautiful. Include with that an all-white hydration pack, a white/black Arabian headress, and an aluminum (silver) doumbek drum on the back of the pack - I will look like "Lawrence of Japan", play belly dance music, and will be sharing a lot of French Press coffee and Hookah bowls. Stop by if you see me. At night the poi come out.

I bought a fantastic hakama from Kyoto - still haven't received it. It has custom embroidery in gold on the right hip in vertical Kanji that reads "Burning Man under Sun Alone". The Hakama is white, and verrrryy light weight. It's the most exciting piece of gear I got for the burn...

I doubt I'll wear the hakama while biking. I'll be first in line to find a furkini. I will wear the furkini while biking (preferably thong). Dismount, perform a small ceremony that includes locking my bike and donning the hakama from my bike's milk crate. Ceremony still to be developed - but that's between The Man and I.

Not sure if I'll wear all of this all the time - I doubt it - but will have plenty of other options, including a coat and some more casual stuff for spinning poi. No fire poi spinning with my Hakama...

Simply can't wait. And yea, I've got most of the answers I needed from the survival guide, my posts, and other threads here. Thanks guys!

hahaha! He's actually got pants on - and I don't know how to use a lightsaber! :D

More like this - no I won't have a blade - mine will be all white tho, and with shorter inseams to keep it up more... like a clam diggin' Hamaka! It'll be GLORIOUS I tell ya!:
