1st Timer from PDX

Post by eDawne » Sat Mar 12, 2011 8:14 pm

Hello to everyone! I'm a first timer, traveling to the playa from Portland, Oregon with my Burning Man experienced fella. I'm already so excited I can barely stand it!

I love the theme this year. I'm ordained and am looking forward to performing some weddings, hand fastings, and other rites of passage.

See you on the playa!

Sounds like you're in good hands already, but there's sure to be something on ePlaya that'll be interesting to you. Welcome!

Are you ordained in Nevada? The year we got married there was some sort of law specifying that you needed to have a street address (I don't think that a P.O. Box would do) in Nevada to perform weddings.

I'm in touch with the person in charge of coordinating the volunteer officiants, and I'm working on the paperwork for Nevada. :-)

edited to add:
Temporary Certificate of Permission
For out-of-state ministers. NRS 122 provides that a licensed or ordained minister in good standing with his denomination or church whose congregation is in another state may perform marriages in the county if authorized to do so by the county clerk. A separate authorization is required for each marriage performed. Such a minister may perform not more than five marriages in this state in any calendar year.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
