Hi Cody! Stay safe and hurry home.

One of my favorite burners came from the end of his service to the Burn with maybe a week in between. :D Soldiers have some of the best attitudes out there I've ever seen.

Hi Cody,

There's a fair few military and veteran types out on the playa, myself included. Welcome to ePlaya, we'll see you in 2012.

BTW, just put family reunion in Reno on your DA Form 31.

Best,

Hiya Cody! Welcome to eplaya! and thank you so much for serving our country young man. I have a son in the navy who's due to end his career this year.

When my son was in Iraq he told me there were days sometimes in the 130's.

Can't wait till you get home! Stay safe ok? And keep in touch with folks in here. It's a nice group of people!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

remember to promptly bury any hippies who happen to "die" in you camp, they really get ripe quick. Although I'm sure they teach ya that in the military.

Hey Cody

I'm a reservist and a virgin burner. I work as a civilian contractor on one Air Force base and do my reserve stuff at another, all in public affairs.

(I'm not "military" at all, and a proud liberal Democrat, and a firm disbeliever in doing anything before noon. I forget to stand up when commanders walk into the room and I never address anyone as sir.)

I'm volunteering in Media Mecca this year and if I can go on oh 12, maybe I'll do it again. Maybe we can have some sort of convoy (can we get some Soviet military trucks?)

I just found out my reserve weekend is the day after I plan to return from my 1800 mile trip. I imagine I'll still be tired and dusty. I can tell people I just got back "from the desert."

If they say "Iraq?" I can reply with "no, dude, Burning Man," as I bang some dust out of my ear and try to explain wht I went camping for a week in the high desert, on purpose.
"I knew it was wrong, but I did it anyway."

(This is semi-related thread drift)

Speaking of the name Cody ... when I was in baloney bomber school in Fort Meade, MD (Defense Information School or DINFOS) there was an instructor named Mike Cody who was a Navy reserve officer with a sense of humor. He wasn't my instructor but one for a parallel class.

Somehow we were looking at my website in class and goofing off when he burst in and addressed me as Airman Evil, and said they were also looking at my website at the same time. I use the name "Super Evil Brian" in Flickr, Facebook and other places.

That was both funny and strange at the same time. After that, in the classrooms, I was Airman Evil.

So, leaving high altitude desert conditions to go to a more desolate high altitude desert, with serious dust issues?

Good life planning there.

Hey, I bought on high ground, and not by accident.

I bet you don't live in the playa dust.

We could sure use some altitude here right about now.
Some wind wouldn't hurt either.
