Gday,
Well after a long six year wait, my burning man itch is about to be scratched,
i first heard about BM when i was involved with running nightclubs, i had done a little research and knew instantly that it was the kind of place that i needed to go to in my life, but i had little time and no money.
Around a year or so later i meet a dude at a party, after a while i started telling him about this awesome event that i wanted to go to, he sat there and smiled, and when i had finished my rambling, he said, with a cheeky grin, I know all about, I was there last year, and i got a full run down on the craziness that i desired sooooo bad.
I now have the money and the time, and that dude i met at that party, well now hes a friend, and this year he and another buddy have relocated to san fran for work, so the planets have aligned perfectly for me and will make my first burning man truly great.
i have a question to those who have been before,
As burning man is in the middle of the desert, i imagine water will be hard to come by, my plan and my gift to the burning man community will be, i'm hiring a 2000 gallon water truck to be able to provide water and showers to thirsty, dirty people, my question is, will the mud created from my gift piss of my neighbors, and cause more grieve than i want to deal with or will it add a new dimension to burning man ???
I eagerly look forward to your responses.
Glennos.
aussie wants to burn with water
Glennos, welcome. Now do a little basic basic fucking BASIC research. Suggest you focus on these terms: gray water, evaporation, and leave no trace. Survival guide, first timers guide are on the main burning man web site.
”On second thought, Let’s not go to Camelot. It’s a silly place.”
Roll on through, Tumbleweed.

Welcome!
That's a LOT of water, it might take some furious planning and the help of your buddies in the SF area to pull that off in time for 2011.
Or you could bring xyz gallons of good drinks
Maybe set up a mini, non-registered, low key bar camp/night club. Seems you have the background/experience for that and it could be more fun.

I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!

Glennos,
Hopefully by now you've learned that Burning Man is a Leave No Trace environment...in the strictest sense of the word. That means no shower, bath, or dish water (aka grey water) is allowed to touch the playa surface. It must all be captured in some manner that allows it to evaporate or be collected for the trip home and disposed of.
That said, you will occasionally see someone sprinkling uncontaminated water on the playa surface, usually near their camp, as a dust abatement measure. The operative word here is "uncontaminated." If it's cooler ice melt, that means no fruit, veggie, or meat bits in the water...certainly not water someone has bathed in.
Offering shower water is a great gift, but you'll have to go to great lengths to comply with the Leave No Trace ethos of the event to provide it.

Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
Hi Glennos,
Most people actually don't use all their water in a week. Most pack too much, actually, because they've studied up and are scared to run out. (And if someone needs a gallon, they're most likely to go next door and ask, not seek out the rumor of a water camp.)
Secondly, public showers are not allowed.
Even if it's just for drinking there are rules that must be followed if not to be shut down by the Health Dept. Read the survival guide:
http://www.burningman.com/preparation/e ... index.html
Excerpt:
Public pools and showers will not be permitted. Water for private use that entails full body contact or consumption must be "potable" and come from Nevada State Health Division approved water sources. If you have any questions, contact the Nevada State Health Division: (775) 687-7548.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Well intentioned, but unless you have a way to either drink, evaporate, or carry out with you, every drop of water that comes out of that truck, don't bring it. The mud will leave scars on the playa, which is a violation of the leave no trace policy.

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
