Hey, hey, hey! Jax from Kentucky saying "Hello!"

Hello all! Busy here in KY planning our first venture out to the playa this year! I'm excited as hell and, admittedly, a bit overwhelmed. We had a little set back earlier this year (let's say I, "misplaced" my eye) but the trip is back on, and I'm more thrilled than ever!! Looking forward to the experience, whatever it may be.

Oh hi! I think we all just said hello to your husband, Jross! :)

We've tried to put a bunch of tips in his thread, I hope they help.

It's so normal to be overwhelmed trying to prepare. (For some of us, and by "us" I must admit I mean ME--I should not drag everyone else into Camp Crazytown) . . . that feeling never truly goes away. This can entail giddy chants and songs on the last 12 hour travel segment, or mild, invisible panic, or weird dreams, or the occasional " . . . what have I done?" (before, during, or after the Burn).

Welcome!

Hello in Memphis!!

@ Savannah~ You did (say hello to him) and the tips ARE VERY HELPFUL & GREATLY APPRECIATED! As for the overwhelming feelings, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone here, in Camp Crazytown!!!

@ lucky bastard~ Thank you! We are flying into Sacramento, picking up a cargo van and supplies, then driving out. We were originally making plans to drive cross country, but, had to put those on the shelf (hopefully just until next year)

A cargo van is a wonderful size for two people, I tried it in 2009. You can bungee some cheap old bicycles to the walls and there's plenty of room for general stuff, including lumber (if making an evap pond) and PVC for a shower or monkey hut shelter, sometimes laid down diagonally.

Make sure to make an extra key if you can. Hide one in camp and keep one on you. And lock the van when you're not in camp. The rare thief is more likely to go after unlocked bikes, unattended booze or nice tools/generators, but if something is out in plain sight in the front seat (like my campmate's iPod) it might walk away on Burn night.

Oh, by the way, check your private messages.

HELLOO!

I think you are the first couple (at least that I know of) to both log onto eplaya.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Well my message got repeated, what we call a double post around here. So I edited this second one (can't delete it) to explain one of the deep, unsolved mysteries of eplaya.

Not to worry, they'll fix it when they upgrade next week right, Right?!...
