My name is Adam (aka Meerkat). I have been to the Playa every year since 2008 (mixing 4th of Juplaya with BM trips). I love it. Especially the "reset button" it seems to offer every time I go.
My favorite Playa moment was during my first burn when I was standing on the esplanade and looking out at the sea of chaos that is a typical burning man Friday, and all of a sudden my eyes were drawn to one man naked, painted head to toe, walking barefoot straight out to the man. He moved with such force and purpose that he captured my attention and held it amidst all the distractions. I realized in that moment that "you can create whatever you want to create, as long as you commit yourself to its creation."
That man created (and perfected) his own personal version of a walk out to the man. I wanted to create something this year that would be equally expressive of my personality...
My first trip to the Playa was a mess. I didn't know how to prepare, and I felt hopelessly out of place for the first couple days until a friend of mine found me and took me under his wing. Now I want to give burners and would-be-burners an opportunity to experience some of the sites and sounds of burning man during the rest of the year. So I designed a webart project, a free directory of services, crafts, and burning man inspired events for all to enjoy and share what they are up to. I call it "Playafy"
Since this is my first visit to eplaya, I wanted to make sure I didn't step on any toes, and I also wanted to be sensitive to the intention behind the eplaya community, so my question is:
If I want to share my webart project with the community, where on the site would I post a link to it without it being misconstrued as some kind of capitalistic endeavor (which it is not)?
Thanks again all of you for creating this site and building this online community. I look forward to adding my offerings to it over the coming years.
See you on the Playa!
Adam
