Hello y'all you nice people out there!
I am Matou, and virgin in the Context of burning man. After two mates from me joined this experience 2 years ago and had so much to tell about, they infected me, and so i plan
- for now -
to join the community in this year. (with them two and another fourth person - i will sure tell somewhat later about this 4th, he's ... special )

I was born, when the men walked at the moon, and so i'm a man in the best years - as we say. Living in the center of the european, i out myself here - have been reading about the word EuroMOOP and am a bit in worry about that.

I want to tell you, that i am a great fan of the north americas (US and Canada) so i have already traveled your countries 6 times by RV, and even spent some day in desert - like areas (a few days in south bend NP) - but i think it's not really compareable to everything what's happening here.
We plan to go here using one or two RVs, so it will get interesting. I'm already breaking my head how to build some shady place between the vehicles ... rope, mat, whatelse... but there is already many been written, right?

There are so many things still to be asked in my head, and so much info here to read - great. I'll try to not ask already answered questions and looking hopefully forward to things to come.

Benvenuto! Read the first timers guide! And! Research your RV rentals well in advance!! Some RV companies do not rent to Burners! And some charge you A LOT more money! Bust of luck!

@TomServo - I already am through the official stuff. Planning to get to El M*nte or Cruise Am*rica (and am also planning to pay someone to clean the unit before i return it - i will see)
@burner von braun: i am not through everything - only if you have it in head: is there some idea like tow ropes between 2 rv and put the mat on?

If you use a tarp, Silver Heavy duty is best. Blue, not at all. Green Hell No! They also have black mesh garden shades that work really well, and allow more air flow. I would tie ropes across, before hanging the tarp over them. And reinforce each grommet with good duct tape or Gorilla Tape!!

Spatula is nothing too weird. It's my brewing paddle, self-brewing is a little hobby to me.
My last brew is very tasteful and deadly - for the snails in my garden

Would you prefer sending a 30 kilo package over the atlantic to a hotel (in Las Vegas) or directly to the BRC post office?

I have never shipped my stuff to a hotel or the Reno Post Office, but between the two, I would be tempted to choose my hotel. Hotels are open 24 hours a day . . . whereas most post offices have limited hours on Saturdays (there are 1 or 2 Reno post offices that do appear to be open 9:00am - 3:00pm). Virtually all of are closed on Sundays.

Doc Pyro has negotiated a good deal on a hotel for his camp and eplaya users. You could ask them if they are willing to hold a package.

The post office just isn't as professional as it was back when it was a real government agency. I'd go with the hotel as well. Isn't that more or less what a concierge is for? But then you are obliged to stay at that hotel. So it depends on multiple factors.

So as i am renting a RV i have to stay there the first night after arriving in the States - it is some law (and also makes sense, with a head full of jetlag you should avoid driving immediately) As we are dropping in in Las Vegas, it is not the badest thing to stay there one night in one of the hotels. Taking a chlillout drink after sitting 18 hours(and staying awake for nearly 24 hours) in a plane is not a bad idea.
Then the concierge can deal with my package. It again costs... but that goes under in the sum of all we spend to get to the playa.
