East Coast Burners
Hey guys, Lola here, and I'm a birgin obviously. But I am sooo excited to finally get there. I'm coming with my boyfriend (his fifth year), his first year he went alone and made so many amazing friends. I could never do that, I've been doing so much research I'm going insane. But anyways, with all my research I'm having a heard time finding burners from my area, which is philly. Our plan was to drive there, and if anyone wanted to tag along that would be a sure plus. But we can't find anyone!! Haha...then I found out about theme camps. So first of many questions I'm sure, is there any camps based out of the philly/nj/ny area? All info is appreciated, thanks guys

Hi Lola... Woot on another East Coaster... There is a pretty large burner community in the Philly area. Check out the http://regionals.burningman.com page to be added t the group. Are you attending PDF or PEX, They're right in your backyard (MD) and a great way to start meeting folks. There are pretty regular events in NYC if you make it up this way.
Philly also has a container that gets shipped to the playa, you would have to google it or ask when you are added to their email list. I plan on shipping my stuff through the NYC container again. It's a lot easier, especially seeing as though you pick it up right on the playa and it gets shipped back to your home city (NYC for me). My tent, coolers, etc. go out there that way which makes it easier to get my but to the playa and saves me a couple pretty pennies every year. Best of luck with all the planning and welcome again!

9ah gave you good advice about regionals. If you don't meet up with camps you like in your neck of the woods, camp as a duo, or with a few likeminded individuals (you're a camp as soon as you give yourself a name. It's only if you want to be registered or placed that you need anything official). But anyways, with all my research I'm having a heard time finding burners from my area, which is philly. Many people meet up with their chosen camp out on the playa for the first time.
Welcome!

Now there's a gifting idea. Wander the back streets giving out camp names...Savannah wrote:you're a camp as soon as you give yourself a name.

Yes! Wander with a button-making machine and some letter stamps. Stop at a small camp. Name them. Distribute buttons. Oh my God.

Can you just use duck tape and a sharpie? I really like that camp naming idea... I think I want to do something like that... ::mind blown::Savannah wrote:Hahaha!theCryptofishist wrote:Now there's a gifting idea.
