New Yorker and First time burner! Hi!
New Yorker and First time burner! Hi!
Got my burning man ticket! All I need is a camp willing to let this first timer hang around! Female in mid 20s riding solo. I will help with anything you need, and will be packing very light. I've backpacked for months before so I know how to rough things out if need be. I am very nice and easy to get along with. Can't wait for my first burning man experience and to meet a bunch of people. =)

Ah, don't wait around for someone to contact you. You've got to approach camps. Find one that does something that you are enthusiastic about, or join a regional group and find one in your area, or go with something like the Orphan/Endorphin camp that takes people simply as a group.

Hi evagladys!
Take a look at the 2013 Theme Camps forum (or the main site under last years theme camps; some of them may return) and send a detailed note via PM or email to camps that look like fun. Look for a good fit. Tell them your skills. It's a little like writing a cover letter, only less arduous.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Wait...she's a she. "Female mid-20s, solo..." Jeezuz! All ladies have to do is show up at the theme camp of their desires and they'll be taken in. It's us schmuck guys that have to sell ourselves. I mean, just look at mutant vehicles...I could be laynig out there on the playa with a sucking chest wound and the art cars will just drive by...ladies, OTOH, they come to a screeching halt!evagladys wrote:Got my burning man ticket! It's OK, tho...malekind is used to it...it's how we've been brought up.

Re: New Yorker and First time burner! Hi!
You are an individual and of course see yourself as such. But there will be about 10,000 other individuals closely matching your self description. Regionals and in person connections before are best. Camps are looking for 1-10 unicorns who are not sparkle ponies. So that is a ratio of 10,000 to 10 or fewer for a specific camp. Some villages have loose solo camper registration done early. Many West Coast festival participants one could cross paths with also participate in BM. Think there is a finding a camp thread. Sure it will work, but may take some effort!
First year is nice to share with friends/ new friends who you have something in common. All about the narrative.

Welcome... Consider joining the regional list (don't mind the snark on it)... There's a weekly Happy Hour in NYC, it's on Wednesdays. You just missed the Spark showing in NYC.

Hi, my name is Corey. I am looking for some other solo new burners to see if they would like to camp together. Can be hard to find a camp that you can join. If you would like to possibly camp together or want to know more about me just message me back.
