One Virgin One Non

Post by allisinwndrlnd » Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:43 pm

Howdy there,

Looks like I'll finally be attending my first burn this year. I'm extremely excited. I'm going to be attending with my partner. I've heard the word of caution about doing that, but we're going together despite that, and renting a box truck in Auburn.

We'll be flying into Sacramento from Costa Rica on August 24th. We're hoping we might find burners to stay the night with around Sacramento. We're trying to figure out the best way to get from there to Auburn by 10am on the 25th. Looks like a taxi and renting a car to get to Auburn are about the same price. We checked the rideshare, but only saw postings from people needing rides. Any suggestions or leads on helpful people would be much appreciated!

After we pick up the truck, we'll do shopping in Reno, and start out toward BRC. Is there anywhere to camp overnight between Reno and BRC?

We're also potentially looking for a camp. We can contribute with supplies or dues in exchange for access to a kitchen and shower. Any tips of camps to check with?

Thanks

-Allis

Welcome!

Camping between Reno and BRC is slim. You might search this very ePlaya board for Doc Pyro and the Barbie Death Village Reno hotel deal. They have inbound dates, and you would meet other burners, and it's almost as cheap as camping. There might be camping at Pyramid Lake on the res.

Several finding a camp threads - easy to search on ePlaya.

I went to Costa Rica twice in the 80's. I wonder what it looks like today. Welcome to ePlaya.

Welcome, allisinwndrlnd! :D

Spank the Monkey Camp seemed to have the amenities you were looking for--just one example under the 2013 Theme Camps forum. I don't know more about them than anyone else here, but they were simply the most recent camp thread I'd visited.

Reno & BRC are geographically close, but it would be really tiring to fly in, shop for hours, AND head out to the playa all on the same day (especially if you are coming in at peak times and will encounter the line and a search for a camp/campsite). The recommendation to use a Reno hotel is a sound one.
