New from Colorado

Post by Joeln » Thu Feb 20, 2014 1:09 pm

Like several other things that I didn't try for a long time, I have known a tiny bit about Burning Man for years.
Somehow I am driven to go now.
I am terrified, hopeful, excited, determined.
I've leaned toward counter-culture my whole life (56) and have many aspects of modern culture that I dislike intensely.
That said, the struggles of life have really knocked the dreams out of me.
I sometimes feel I have sold out my values for the comforts of modern livng.
But that just doesn't sit well with me at all.

My last two years of High School I went to a special place that opened me up to what life could be for me.
I sometimes say it saved my life.
Sadly, I have never been able to find or recreate that kind of environment and have a huge grief for this loss.
I think I'll be spending time at the temple.
Much of what I have learned about Burning Man suggests that this might be the place I have been seeking,
or at least a chance to get a different perspective on my future.

Tears.
Collapse first and avoid the rush

That has to be the most depressing opening first post I have ever read.

Welcome to the ePlaya. I think.

Hey man. Good for you, I think I understand where your coming from. I've not lived as many years but I learned some lessons quicker then most had too. If you are going to BM, and you feel that's where your path awaits you then DO IT! If your going to dream, dream big.

From a fellow BM Virgin from Colorado to another, Good luck on your adventure man! Blessed be, and smile.
