Hey Im new here

Post by acidhalo » Wed Aug 27, 2014 3:54 pm

Well hello, my name is Nicholas. Just moved to Vegas with my wife and daughter. I have always wanted to attend burning man, but do to a hectic career and crazy schedule I could never do it. Until now. I know I am missing this years Burning Man but I would not have been prepared anyways. Like I said as of Aug 1, 2014 I am a resident of Las Vegas NV. Starting now I am going to begin preparation for next years burn. I know with every forum there are people who have little patience for newbies, but I ask please be patient with me. I would welcome any suggestions or advice for my preparation for next years burning man. Hopefully I can make a few friends on here that we can meet up and make the event memorable.

I am former militiary (navy), former raver (retired 2001 due to little kiddies running around parties for all the wrong reasons), parent (2 daughters), husband, free soul with a wandering mind.

Welcome, Nicolas!

There's lots to do and learn in the next year, but it sounds like you're ready and willing to jump in with both feet!

Many friends are made in here - and we all meet up on the Wednesday of the burn, so that part of your wish is a given.

...you may have to wait until next week to meet the majority of them tho... they seem to have stepped out somewhere. 8)

Again, Welcome to Eplaya... and ENJOY!!!

Then passed right by- And never knew.”

Hi Nicholas!

Military folks like yourself are fantastic at the Burn--they're tough, and even when shit hits the fan, they know from past experience that virtually nothing on the playa (by comparison) is Really That Bad . . .

The "Preparation" forum is probably going to be the most useful for you. We have a "search" feature here, but I often just google a keyword + eplaya to find what I'm looking for, i.e.:

goggles eplaya
contact lenses eplaya
house rules for RVs eplaya
realistic menu eplaya

As you may have observed, people here will go easier on you if they can tell you've busted your ass a bit to find out the answers to a question before you ask.

You can also socialize with us in "Open Discussion" if you'd like to make friends before you hit the playa. Also, click "Regionals" from the top right of the main site and join some email lists; meeting Las Vegas Burners would be a great idea for many reasons.

Welcome!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Welcome!

Vegas has a good group of burners and weekly meet ups, plus other events. A lot of the Vegas burners head north to Utah for our regional, Element 11. We're a pretty good testing ground for your playa set up as we're on a salt march and practically guaranteed to have high winds to rattle your shade.

Well, once they reopen I-15...

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.
