Merhaba from Istanbul, Turkey

Post by omer » Mon Jan 18, 2016 2:37 pm

I am a BM virgin from Istanbul, Turkey. I study Computer Science at Bilkent University. Im 21 years old. I’m turning 22 at 28th of August, which is the first day of burning man! I will be doing WAT (Work And Travel) at Ohio this summer. At the end, I will dive straight to BM.

I am looking for a camp to join though. Can you inform me how can I do it?

Dusty Hugs!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hola and hello...

stick around here at eplaya, after a couple of months camps will be posting if they are looking for new members. You can also go to the burning man website and look at the theme camps page from 2015. there are a lot of them and many have their contact info listed. If you see one that looks like it would be a good fit, contact them.

Good luck to you
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Welcome, Omer! :)

There are some 2016 Theme Camps who are already posting in this link:
viewforum.php?f=468&sid=4439f4c984898e2 ... ad2984df46

And the link lucky420 is talking about is here:
http://burningman.org/event/brc/2015-theme-camps/

Some of the above camps will be returning in 2016; email the ones with contact information and see. You can read alphabetically, or search for key words with your interests or strengths. Be selective about applying, choose only the camps that sound like a good fit, and tell them about your skills.

Welcome from Turkey! This thread has useful info: viewtopic.php?t=36767&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 and you can take a look at 2015 camps which may return http://burningman.org/event/brc/2015-theme-camps/. Or you can go solo, many do. Best!

Hey Elderberry!
Thank you lucky420! I will be doing that in a few days. Nice nickname though haha
Savannah! You're right that I should be selective about it since we will be spending a week in a desert together. Thanks for the info
Hello something seeing eye! Solo would be hard I guess... Really hard...

So let me introduce myself. I also want to hear from you :)

I was a scout for 4 years and I quit 3 years ago. I know it was not challenging as BM, but lets saay I built a tent or two. I am currently reading & researching about RVs, the whole grey water thing etc.

Side Note Here: I will be doing WAT (work n travel) for 3 months in the US. I am planning to buy a used car when I arrive to US, and sell it before I return to my country. Since I will be spending 3 months on US, I thought that would be a really good way to get around. If you are an US citizen, and have knowledge on whether a foreign person can purchase a car or not, what kind of car is the one that I can sell easily, where can I purchase a car etc, or you have any suggestions on this, please hit me up on my message box. Thank you.

I am kinda weird person. Let me give you an example. Last week when I was at Dubai, I discovered the “high” of walking barefoot. I figured that walking barefoot has its own trip. I started to walk barefoot on the marina when people were having yatch parties along the river. Maybe I had fun just because I was visiting a different city. But it was still fun, I continued to walk barefoot on wherever I visited & wherever it came to my mind. It’s completely a different experience. You go back to your primate roots while trying to relocate by avoiding sharp object on the ground. You should definitely try that yourself!

I am looking for a camp to join in Burning Man. If you think that we can get along for a week in desert, feel free to hit me up in messages and we can chat. We can do skype to get to know each other better! I know picking someone to live together for a week is hard. So lets try get to know each other better! Even if you're not planning to camp w/ me, it doesnt hurt to know someone on the desert dont ya think?

Come on! I wanna hear from you :)

Selam! I'm so glad I wandered back in and saw your post - my husband and I are heading to Istanbul next month for a week! We've got a fairly full schedule of the usual sites (my husband's a history fiend, and jokes that we'll be spending half of our visit in Constantinople), and are doing a trip to Buyukada for one day, but any recommendations you might have for something playa-minded we might want to check out would be welcome.
