*Another* Virgin?

Post by Dianosaurr » Sat Mar 26, 2016 7:32 pm

Hey all!

Ive tried, and failed, for a number of reasons, to make it to my first Burn.

Im feeling like this is my year. So far I'm doing it alone, and I'm not sure how many of my burner friends are making it this year. Being awkward and socially anxious, this terrifies, but also kind of excites me.

I've done various festivals here in British Columbia, but I know that I have no real idea what I'm in for if I make it. Fingers are crossed that I do, though!

Welcome Dianosaurr. I hope you make it too. Read through these boards. Take the advice doled out so freely to others. Make local contacts, (burner friends). Make it happen this year. Good luck.

Hey Dianosaurr!

Welcome! I'm also a first time burner that's going (probably alone?) this year... Get this, I'm also in B.C.! Starting out, I suggest checking out your local Burning man Regional group and joining up. I went to a meet-up for the Vancouver one just the other day and had a blast! Met lots of burners and heard a bunch of stories!

I am also a virgin Burner and, as suggested, I am going to the meet and greet on Wednesday night. I hope that we meet either there or at another time. I am really looking forward to meeting the fabulous folks who have given me so much helpful advice as well as a whole lot of other great folks.

I just read a travel article about removing your expectations from a place and just experiencing what YOU experience. That is what I am going to do.

Peace and grace,

Moonbeams

They're pretty regular, link to their Facebook page with a calendar there. The Burners and beers event is great for getting to know people.
