My name is Sean and I am finally attending Burning Man this year with my GF Tiffany. I have had tickets for the event twice before this year, and regretfully had to sell because of scheduling conflicts, but NOTHING is going to get this years tickets out of my hand. This year I got both of our tickets and a single car pass from the 3/23 sale.
I live south of Reno, and just East of South Shore Lake Tahoe. I own and operate a screen printing, embroidery, vinyl graphics and promotional products shop, and have for almost 10 years now. I have been making custom swag/gifts for burners for the past 8-9 years of that.
As of right now, we plan on camping with some friends that are veterans of the event in Camp Titicaca. We only know a handful of people in this camp but are looking forward to meeting every single person we can. We are both very social, but seem to get along with people most when everyone is taken out of their own element. We are avid campers. I believe we spent 13 weekends camping out of my 1998 Toyota Tacoma last summer alone. My #1 goal for my first year at the burn is keeping my love as comfortable as she deserves to be, and RADICAL SELF RELIANCE. I would love to contribute more to the event, but figure taking care of ourselves and being over prepared will better prepare us to be able to lend helping hands to bigger, more established projects on the playa.
Being that we are only 3 1/2 hours or so from BRC, we plan on heading out to the playa in the next week or so to scout our final fuel, food, and water stops....Maybe checking out the hot springs, as hunting for hot springs is one of my favorite pastimes and I have read that they are all temporarily off limits during BM week.
We plan on towing out our 27' enclosed race trailer that we use for our families racing addiction. It has a 110v AC unit already installed, and a 40 gallon fresh water tank. I plan on running my smallest generator( http://www.generac.com/all-products/gen ... lang=en-US ) to power the AC when in use and to charge our 3 deep cycle 'house' batteries, unless I can get together a decent solar setup before the event. We will utilize our Yeti 65 cooler with dry ice for food, and a separate steel belted Coleman cooler for icy cold beverages.
We are looking into our on playa transportation. As of right now, we have bicycles, but would rather bring out something that we will not cry if we lost in the mayhem of burn week. Walmart has these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Huffy-Men- ... e/49058108. I'm thinking these will be the winners because of their slightly fatter than normal tires and cheap price.
We are also starting to plan our gifts for the year. On the roster so far is : Custom T-shirts, Custom Bandanas, Custom Sunglasses, and possibly Custom plastic cups (for those camp hoppers with a desire for drink, but no vessel)
I'm sure I will frequent this forum regularly for the next 5 months or so. I look forward to meeting everyone here, and even more so to meet all of your faces in person this year on the playa.
Any recommendations or suggestions, please fire away, I don't offend easily
