Greetings from prospective virgin burner rasta979

Post by rasta979 » Fri Jun 24, 2016 1:15 pm

I hope this finds everyone well!

I am doing what I can on my end to land a ticket (my first) and prepare for what is to come. I know there is a good chance that I don't land a ticket but I know the prep will serve me well this year or next...but who wants to wait

I am reading the assorted guides and FAQ's trying to answer what I can there. I am sure I will fire off a few questions here on the board but I will try my best to scour the existing goodness before I clutter up anything further.

I will be quasi solo...depending on if others I know can get tickets as well. If solo then so be it...I am down. I have a sneaking suspicion once there I will never really be alone if I so choose.

I am working on the gear I will need. Planning supplies and how to make sure I leave the playa as I found it. Gonna hold out on the costumes and decorations/lighting until I land the ticket...but that is harder than I thought LOL Survival first...awesomeness 2nd if its a go.

I am a 38 year old who's life did not allow things of a fun nature as a youth...making up a bit for that now.

I will come into this with no real expectations other than to get there and go with the winds. I can provide help in the technical form, construction, sing a decent tune, share whatever I have...however I am needed I am down to do my part if I get the chance.

Cheers!

Do your research. If you ask a question that has been answered before, you will be killed.

no longer just a hopeful wish...ticket and VP secured!

Will work this weekend on the 2 person hexayurt.

Also will get good plastic tubs with good lids. A wide tire mountain bike that I will mod the handlebars and seat on.

Will do some planning and see if the Outback with a safari rack will be ok to carry the yurt.

So little to do and so much time to do it...wait strike that and reverse it! (thanks Gene Wilder Wonka)

Cheers!

Nice!!! Good work on scoring a ticket! That's not easy to do.
Prepare for your life to be screwed up//,,,,, er, uh,,,.... fixed all up real good.

You'll soon own mountains of weird shit that's good for nothing 51 weeks of the year. If you live where there's an HOA, they're gonna hate you.

You're fucked now.

But welcome to dusty miserable hell!!

If you come to the Meet-n-Greet on Wednesday, there will be no perhaps about it.

Welcome
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Welcome Rasta. It will be tough to remember the meet & greet but if you make the effort it's well worth it. Remember there are 51 weeks that you can burn here on eplaya. There is no substitute for meeting your peers face to face. (Plus the food and drinks ain't bad.) Looking forward to hugs.

Am not planning/scheduling much but I will plan to be at the Meet-n-Greet!

Tickets arrived today, Already cursing and measuring and grumbling about how to properly load out the Outback.

6" bi-tape rolls enroute along with the first wave of stuff I think I need (hoorags, new backpack, goggles). Deciding between the 6' or the H4 yurt option, thus the grumbling and cursing mentioned above.

Who am I kidding I love this shit!
