Hello, folks:
Just been gifted a ticket a couple of weeks ago, co-incidentally as I started a pretty busy rotation. I'm in my final year of medical school and thinking that I'm about to lock myself into a couple of years of chugging along. However, it is great motivation to think that at the end of this month, I will join you all with hopefully a rad hair cut.
Just came back from a year of travel / flittering about and hoping that in this last year, I find something close to balance, while creating space to question ideas. Plus, I just wanna try/see/experience things I haven't before.
Looking forward to shared time in the desert.
I currently haven't coordinated a ride, haven't figured out where I'm camping, don't know much. But if any folks would like to pool knowledge / share their generous insights, I would be forever grateful.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Re: Virgin Burner from Boston
Welcome to eplaya. I hear that Boston is pretty hot this time of year.
I hope that this trip to Burning Man gives you a brand new sense for that whole doctor gig. Things will be getting hectic for the rest of your life, so it sounds like this is the perfect time for you.
I'm sure all the details will fall into place as far as camping etc. It always does.
See you in the dust.

Welcome
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

May2tree, A hearty hug and welcome to eplaya. You've come at the busiest time of year. (Hard to get indepth answers from people packing in a panic.) Some of the burners that aren't going this year will be here to answer your questions. Lucky for you all the answers are here. Use google to search. The short version...
Cover the basics, transportation, food, shelter, water and clothes. Those are the necessities. You don't need to bring swag/gifts, costumes, fancy shade structure, art or any of the wonderful things we all lug over there.
You need some items for safety and comfort. Personal lighting, facemasks, goggles and extra socks. The list is endless but keep it simple.
Your gift will be helping others.
Write this down...Eplaya Meet & Greet on Wednesday night. 6pm at barbie death camp. Come to the M&G. We can help you. (Did your flashlight die or lost your water bottle?) Hey 100 overprepared fools ready to be generous. The password is pineapple.
If you swing by the Burner Express Bus stop you'll see people that bussed in. They know how to travel light.
Go to the share resource board here and look for a ride share.
You don't need to join a camp.

Make sure to lead with your strengths and skills if you apply to a camp, and to read the Survival Guide a few times.
How Victorian! . . . Careful not to use those words with prospective camps or to strangers on the playa.<3
