(Hopeful!) First timer from NYC

Post by paulynomial » Tue Aug 09, 2016 4:21 pm

Hey there!

So I've been wanting to go to Burning Man for years and it's finally time where the stars have aligned (financially, and timing wise) that I have the opportunity to attend.

I've pretty much spent my whole life here on the East Coast and find the idea of living on the Playa enthralling. It looks like such a beautiful and alien landscape when compared to this familiar deciduous North East. I first heard about BM from a group of classmates at college and have desperately wanted to join them on their cross-country adventure ever since.

Some of the things I like include: making art at the interface between the analog and the digital. Since this would be my first year, I don't have any specific projects planned at the moment to bring but would love to lend a hand with yours! I'm handy with carpentry and electrical work (power & circuits). Additionally, I love love love cooking. I'm a member of a food coop here in NYC and fancy myself a decent cook. I adore cooking for others and would love to cook for all of you on the Playa. I'm an avid bike rider. It's such a liberating way to experience a landscape. The idea of riding bikes across the playa excites me immediately.

It's wonderful to meet all of you and I hope to have the opportunity to frollic with y'all this year :)

Cheers,
paulynomial

Pauly, Welcome to eplaya. It sounds like you're ready to go if it happens. I can't imagine getting ready in such a short span of time. Hope you make it.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

I've gone with two days' notice, you can do it. :P

Here and Ebay = where you'll find a ticket (assuming you've already got word circulating amongst your friends).

Good luck! Visit Feed the Artists, they're a big food camp. I do a food camp (Intergalactic House of Pancakes) at one of my regionals, and I love checking out people's kitchen situations. People are so creative...
