1.5 year TX burner here. Excited to make my way out to the big burn this year. I believe I've got a camp I can join and my main goals will be survival (against dust, sun, cold, etc) and to not be a dark wad.
Camping in Texas generally means you need to defend against very different threats than in a desert. Replace the bugs getting EVERYWHERE with dust, and the inevitable rain/wetness with glaring sunlight and you've got yourself a genuine TX burn.
I've got a lot to learn, but thankfully I've got some buds that don't want me to suffer who've been before going with.

Jenother, welcome to eplaya. The obstacles aren't that momentous. You'll be fine. Read everything you can get your hands on. Think about what is important to you. (After all. This is your vacation.) You'll survive. In fact, you'll thrive. Can't wait to hug you.
