Greetings from Brazil (and yup, another virgin)

Post by m o » Wed Jun 28, 2017 5:40 pm

Hellooo, Burners! It's a pleasure to be here!

Lemme introduce myself: I'm a 30yo woman, born and raised in Brazil and recently transplanted to California. I've traveled a lot, been to some festivals, and collected valuable experiences rather than stuff. I'm shy, honest and have a positive attitude - but I'm cool, promise!

I've been trying to go to Burning Man for the past 3 years, but now I think is the right moment for me to join you burners in this journey, share meaningful things and possibilities. Can't wait to go to BRC this year!

Trying to stay up to date on what to bring, tips, warnings, putting things together and planning everything 60 days prior to the burn is consuming me in an awesome way - and it is really challenging for a virgin!

I'm still looking for:
[ ] A camp (or go solo?)
[ ] Friends (the more, the merrier)
[ ] Packing tips (everything I need needs to fit in a 60l bag)

Thank you so much in advance - I'm excited to be part of the community and hope we can see each other in the Playa soon!

Read everything you can on the Burning Man dot org website regarding preparation. Take it all seriously and prepare. https://burningman.org/event/preparation/

Camp or solo? My experience has been solo and I can highly recommend it.

Friends? You will meet a whole lot of people and have the opportunity to make many friends. Unless you are painfully shy or obnoxious, you can manifest friends there easily. Volunteer for a few shifts (2 or 3 maybe your first time) and you will make even more friends and it is a great way to make your experience there more meaningful.

What to Pack? There are a number of very informative threads here on ePlaya regarding packing for BRC. Some posts include very detailed packing lists.

Where in CA are you. Many areas have regional burner groups and events that provide avenues for meeting up with other burners throughout the rest of the year. Do you have a ticket yet? Will you be needing a vehicle pass? Yes, sixty days is not a whole lot of time when it comes to preparing for your first burn. But it still can be done very successfully if you are serious. Best wishes for a fine burn.

Is that everything in a 60 Liter bag? That will be really tough. Tent, sleeping bag, shade, food and water? Plus costumes and personal items for a week.
I can do it, camping by myself, with 2 bags roughly that size plus a large cooler plus water plus a bike. If I dropped off my shade (I wouldn't) and beer I might get it down to 1 bags plus water plus a bike. Remember 1 1/2 gallons of water per day is reccomended.
How are you getting into the Burn?
Everyone is so politically fucked up that they're segregating themselves in the name of equal rights and liberation.

Hey there, welcome to ePlaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
